At Park University, our Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design degree program provides students with the opportunity to learn the practical and theoretical aspects of interior design. Students in the interior design bachelor’s degree track will apply creative and technical solutions within a structure to achieve a built environment. These solutions are functional, enhance the quality of life and culture of the occupants and are aesthetically attractive.

Locations & Learning Options

As a student in our Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design program, you will be required to take face-to-face classes at our Parkville, Missouri campus.

The Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design degree requires a minimum of 120 completed credit hours, including 78 hours of degree-specific core curriculum and approved electives. Refer to your catalog for a complete listing of coursework for this degree.

Students pursuing a BFA degree in interior design at Park University combine the common body of knowledge in interior design with the intellectual development found in a liberal arts education. A sequence of design studios and graphic communications studios with supporting lecture courses provides the practical content integral to the profession.

As a student pursuing an interior design degree, you will be required to individually document selected examples of your best work. These final portfolios will then be submitted to your major advisor.

Program Highlights

While pursuing the Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, you will be required to learn art and design fundamentals, including color theory, drawing, two-dimensional and three-dimensional design, which will all lay the foundation for acquiring an extensive interior design skill set at the culmination of this interior design degree program. A Park University education, combined with work experience in professional practice in the interior design field, will enable students to sit for the National Council for Interior Design Qualifications examination and become registered interior designers.
