Jerzy Hauptmann: the Man, the Inspiration

Jerzy Hauptmann Park’s MPA program proudly bears the name of Park University Professor Emeritus Jerzy Hauptmann, Ph.D., a man who himself faced dramatic uncertain times.

Dr. Hauptmann A native of Poland, he helped lead Warsaw's resistance to the Nazis during World War II. Not knowing who in his family would be alive the next day, he faced the ultimate in uncertain times, and he brought this keen awareness to the United States and to Park University in 1951.

He taught at Park for more than 50 years and designed the MPA degree, instilling in students their responsibility to make the world better—regardless of their chosen profession. In keeping with this spirit, we emphasize cross-sector relationships, responsible exercise of authority, leadership and service through master's degree programs in public affairs and healthcare leadership, graduate certificate programs for students who want to pursue specialized knowledge in on area and an individualized portfolio program for working adults.
