Special Announcement

Tuesday, May 15, 2012 08:00

Do you commute to Park University’s Parkville Campus or Downtown Kansas City Campus? If so, you may want to start searching for an alternate route in the coming months. Beginning in mid-July and continuing through the remainder of 2012, the Missouri Department of Transportation is planning major repairs along U.S. 169 just north of the Charles B. Wheeler Downtown Airport. Because of the extensive repairs needed, not to mention 35,000 vehicles using this section of highway each day, MoDOT announced plans for the repairs months in advance to prepare those who normally drive in the area.

U.S. 169 between Harlem Road (just north of the Broadway Bridge) on the south end and Highway 9 on the north end will be closed to both northbound and southbound traffic. Commuters who normally use U.S. 169 northbound to the Parkville Campus from downtown or those who travel southbound to the Downtown Campus from the Northland will need to plan to use the Fairfax, Heart of America or Bond bridges while repairs are made. For additional details about the closure, including the plans for the project and a map of the affected area, visit www.modot.org/kansascity/major_projects/Route%20169/Route_169_Wall_Replacement.htm.
