PIRATES BACK TO .500 AFTER 78-70 OVERTIME LOSS AT JOHN BROWN UNIVERSITY
SILOAM SPRINGS, ARK.--Park University (4-4) couldn't hang on to the four point lead it had entering the final minute of regulation play, as John Brown University (5-1) tied the game at 67-67 to force the overtime period.  In overtime, JBU outscored Park, 11-3, sealing the win, 78-70. As a team, the Pirates shot just 35 percent from the floor and 60 percent (12-of-20) from the free throw stripe.  Pirate guard Monte Jones led all scorers with 22 points; Kelly Kindall added 18 for Park.  [ BOX SCORE

ATEM RUNS ALL-AMERICAN TIME; FINISHES TWENTY-SEVENTH
PARKVILLE, MO--Mabior Atem, a sophomore distance runner in the Park University men's cross country program, finished 27th overall in the 8,000-meter National Championship meet in Kenosha, Wisconsin, completing the course in 25 minutes, 58 seconds.  The top 30 finishers were named NAIA All-American.  Atem was the lone runner representing Park University at the National Championship meet.

PARK WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL GATHERS NINETY-SEVEN WINTER COATS FOR KANSAS CITY'S PROJECT WARMTH-COAT THE CITY
PARKVILLE, MO--The Park University women's volleyball team collected and donated 97 winter coats during Project Warmth-Coat the City Week, November 5-9.  Head coach Peggy Tuter, assistant coach Melissa Quint, and all eleven team members coordinated the effort as a measure of participation in the NAIA Champions of Character Initiative which encourages community involvement and volunteerism among student-athletes at NAIA member institutions.  The team's contribution was part of an ongoing city-wide effort directed at "mak[ing] the winter months more livable for thousands of area residents in need."  .
