DAYS AHEAD FEATURE
HOT MATCHUPS FOLLOWING WEATHER-PLAGUED WEEK
PARKVILLE, MO--After three days of
game cancellations and cabin fever following the ice storm that debilitated
the Kansas City area this week, Park University sporting teams head into
this weekend's rivalries ready for action. At 5:00 p.m. on
Saturday, Park women's basketball (7-12) hosts the Central Methodist
College Lady Eagles (4-21) in the Breckon Sports Center. That game
will be taped by TEAM Sports for rebroadcast in the metropolitan area on
February 12. In the prime-time slot at 7:00 p.m., Claude English's
Pirates (12-8) will square-off against Bob Burchard's Columbia College
Cougars (22-3), currently ranked #12 nationally, in what might be one of
the most heated rivalries in NAIA Division I men's basketball.
Last season, Park and Columbia split the season series; the Pirates
topped the then-ranked Cougars, 70-65, in early February last
season.
Park University men's volleyball (0-3, 0-2)
will battle for its first win of the season tonight in St. Charles, Mo.,
against #2 Lindendwood University. At 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Park
continues across town to face Missouri Baptist College.
