KANSAS CITY, MO--The Pirates got
solid pitching from Jarrod Tyson, Mike Murphy and Brett Rymer, but the
team's offense mustered just six runs in the doubleheader loss to Avila
College.

SPLIT DOUBLEHEADER; FAULCONER K'S NINE
PARKVILLE, MO--Park University,
currently ranked seventh in NAIA Region V, got off to a rocky start,
allowing five runs in the top of the second inning in the first game of
Tuesday's doubleheader against the NCAA Division II Missouri Western
State College Griffons from St. Joseph, Mo. The Pirates notched a
win in the second contest, topping Missouri Western, 4-2, as Park
sophomore Sherry Faulconer (5-3) recorded nine strikeouts.

Region V Pitcher of the Week
PARK UNIVERSITY'S TYSON
HONORED AS REGION V PITCHER OF THE WEEK AFTER NO-HITTER AGAINST
JAMESTOWN
PARKVILLE, MO--Park
University right-handed pitcher Jarrod Tyson is the Region V Pitcher of
the Week. From March 10-17, Tyson was 2-0, garnering wins against
Valley City State and Jamestown College. He went the distance
against Jamestown College, pitching seven no-hit innings; his no-hitter
was the first for the baseball program which was started at Park in
2000. Tyson, a junior from Overland Park, Kan., improved to 3-1
this season. His two wins for the week boosted Park's overall
record to 11-3.

nominated: Gary Hall, Benedictine College; Adam Szweda, Missouri
Baptist College.

TYSON THROWS
NO-HITTER AS PARK UNIVERSITY SWEEPS JAMESTOWN COLLEGE
PARKVILLE, MO--Park junior Jarrod
Tyson improved to 3-1 with a no-hit outing against the Jamestown College
Jimmies at Comfort Field Friday afternoon. Tyson struck out three
batters in the 3-0 shutout that lifted Park's record to 9-2. In
the second game, Park defeated Jamestown, 5-4 in nine innings.
Hank Edwards, Joe Barbosa and Ruben Vieyra all had doubles for the
Pirates as Park improved to 10-2 overall, 8-0 at home.

ATEM CHALLENGES
KU'S GRUBER IN 800, 1500; WILLIAMS WINS HIGH JUMP FOR PARK
EMPORIA, KAN--Sophomore Mabior Atem
finished less than two seconds behind Charlie Gruber from the University
of Kansas in the 800-meter run at the Emporia State University Spring
Twilight Meet Thursday evening. Atem completed the race in one
minute, 57.8 seconds; Gruber finished in one minute, 56.1 seconds, less
than two seconds away from the meet record of one minute, 54.53 seconds
set by Chris May in 1995.
In the 1500-meter run, Atem finished in four minutes,
8.5 seconds, less than four seconds behind KU's Gruber.
Sophomore Denzel Williams took first place in the high
jump, recording a mark of 1.98 meters. Williams finished ahead of
jumpers from Emporia State and Northwest Missouri State.

GRACELAND FOR FIRST CONFERENCE WIN
PARKVILLE, MO--Park University (8-10,
1-8) secured its first MAMVIC Conference win Thursday night by defeating
the Graceland University Yellowjackets (9-5, 3-4), 3-1 (30-26, 30-22,
26-30, 35-33). The victory was Park's third in-a-row.
