CARDINALS SPLIT IN NORTHLAND DOUBLEHEADER
PARKVILLE, MO--Park University
(17-16-1) won the early game of the series, 10-9, following a ceremonial
opening pitch by Park University President Dr. Beverley Byers-Pevitts.
In the second game, William Jewell (14-13) picked up seven runs in the
top of the second inning, then held on for the win, 14-9.

NATIONAL
PITCHER OF THE WEEK FAULCONER THROWS PERFECT GAME FOR PARK UNIVERSITY
PARKVILLE, MO--Sherry
Faulconer, a 6-0 sophomore right-hander at Park University (16-9-1), has
been named NAIA National Pitcher of the
Week after throwing a perfect game
in a 8-0 win against Ottawa University. In that contest, Faulconer
struck out thirteen batters without allowing a hit, walk or error.
It was the first perfect game for the program since it was started in
1993. Faulconer also recorded two more complete game shutouts in
back-to-back wins against Oklahoma Wesleyan University. For the
week, Faulconer was 3-0 with no runs allowed, 29 strikeouts and one
walk. At the plate, she batted .538 (7-of-13) with four RBI's and
two-doubles in the team's four games this week. Faulconer is 12-5
this season with a 2.86 ERA and 7.04 K Avg.

PARK
STUDENT-ATHLETES HONORED BY MAMVIC CONFERENCE
PARKVILLE, MO--Fifth-seeded Park
University (13-12) finished fourth in the 2002 MAMVIC Conference
Tournament. The Pirates have been invited, as the final at-large
bid, to participate in the 2002 NAIA National Invitational Tournament in
St. Charles, Mo., April 19-20. The following honors were released
this week by the MAMVIC Conference:

DEFENDS TOP SEED ENDING PARK'S MAMVIC TOURNAMENT RUN
FULTON, MO--Park University met up
with the top-seeded William Woods University Owls Saturday morning in
the semifinals of the MAMVIC Conference Tournament in Fulton, Mo.
William Woods defeated Park (13-12), 3-1 (27-30, 31-29, 30-24, 30-18).
Following the loss, Park University awaits a determination on their bid
to the NAIA National Championship Tournament in St. Charles, Mo., April
19-20.

FAULCONER NOTCHES
PERFECT GAME AS PARK SWEEPS OTTAWA
PARKVILLE, MO--Park University (14-9)
dealt with the Ottawa University Lady Braves (1-15) swiftly and severely
in Parkville Thursday afternoon, sweeping the doubleheader in under
three hours. In the first game, Park won 5-1 behind the pitching
of Angela Russell. In the second game, Park sophomore Sherry
Faulconer pitched the first perfect game in Park University softball
history, icing the Lady Braves for thirteen strikeouts and allowing no
hits, walks, or errors. After six innings, Park earned the win with an
8-0 advantage.
