WOMEN'S BASKETBALL SIGNS
PAIR OF AREA FORWARDS
PARKVILLE,
MO--Park University women's basketball coach Joe C. Meriweather recently
garnered commitments from 5-9 guard/forward Courtney Duckworth and 5-10
forward LaToya Williams for the 2002-2003 academic year.
Duckworth will transfer to Park from Moberly Community
College; she is a 2000 graduate of Oak Park High School in Gladstone, Mo.
Duckworth intends to major in Education at Park University.
Williams will graduate this year from Center High School where
she played basketball for coach Erik Swanstrom. She plans to study
Athletic Training/Sports Medicine at Park.

PARK HILL SOUTH KEEPER
JENNINGS CHOOSES PARK
PARKVILLE, MO--Travis Jennings, a
soon-to-be graduate of Park Hill South High School, committed to Park
University in an all-school ceremony in Riverside, Mo., Friday morning.
Jennings was the starting goalie for the 2001-02 Park Hill South Panther
team that finished 18-3-2; Jennings allowed an average of 1.44 goals per
game. Jennings was one of seven Park Hill South High School
student-athletes to express athletic commitments to various institutions
Friday. He will graduate this Saturday as a member of the first
four-year class to commence from Park Hill South High School.
"We're excited to have Travis coming to Park," said
Park University head men's soccer coach Efrem Shimlis. "He brings a
positive, competitive attitude and will make us even stronger at the
goalie position."

OPEN BASEBALL TRY-OUTS SET
FOR MAY 19

PARKVILLE, MO--Head coach Dan Backhaus will
conduct open tryouts for the 2002-2003 baseball team on Sunday, May 19, at
1:00 p.m. Try-outs are open to anyone interested in participating in
intercollegiate baseball at Park University. For more information,
contact Dan Backhaus at (816) 584-6746 or at dbackhaus@park.edu.
Try-outs will be held on Comfort Field located on Sixth Street in
Parkville.
