2002 Park University Women's Soccer

#11 Nationally!
The Park University women's soccer team is ranked 11th nationally entering the 2002 season, according to the NAIA preseason ranking released August 20.  Park's 2002 schedule includes #2 Lindsey Wilson College (away, 9/13), #4 Lindenwood University (home, 10/16), #9 Berry College (neutral site, 9/14)), #15 William Jewell College (away, 9/24), and #19 St. Mary-Neb. (home, 9/28).

CROSS COUNTRY PROGRAMS STRIDE INTO REGION IV
2002 Women's Cross Country Preview
PARKVILLE, MO--Junior Crystal Bethel and senior Jessica Ferguson, both from Nassau, Bahamas, will blaze trails for the women's cross country program this fall as two of the four returning runners from last season. Junior Kristin Wolfe from Casselberry, Florida, and Kasey Scott, a sophomore from Stockton, Mo., complete the class of returning letterwinners for the program.
           Last season, Park finished fourth in the NAIA Region V meet on November 3. Ferguson led the team that day with a fifth place finish on the 3,000-meter course in a time of 19 minutes, 10.43 seconds. Head coach Brian Renshaw described the team's regional performance as their best event of the season. In 2002, Park will compete in NAIA Region IV and the MCAC conference. -more-
           
2002 Men's Cross Country Preview
           All-American junior Mabior Atem will head the pack during the 2002 men's cross country season. Atem, junior Jake Kidd and senior Robert Pavlovic are the three returners from last year's team which finished sixth in NAIA Region V. Atem finished fourth in the regional meet, completing the 8,000-meter run in 25 minutes, 49.09 seconds. In 2001, Atem was the lone representative of the men's program at the NAIA National Championship Meet; he finished the race in 27th place with a time of 25 minutes, 58 seconds, designating him as an All-American. -more-

ST. CATHERINE'S CANCELS TRIP TO KANSAS CITY, PRESEASON MATCH WITH PARK
PARKVILLE, MO--The women's soccer exhibition match between St. Catherine's and Park University scheduled for Friday evening, August 23, at 5:00 p.m., has been cancelled.  The match will not be rescheduled.
