Men's Basketball Results
ROCKHURST OVERCOMES DEFICIT, AVENGES PIRATES, 64-59
KANSAS CITY, MO--Just eight days after Park University (10-12) handed Rockhurst
University
a 67-60 loss in Parkville, the Rockhurst University Hawks (12-8) returned the
favor, beating Park 64-59 in front of nearly 700 fans Wednesday night.
Park connected on ten three-pointers in the game; senior guard Kelly Kindall--who
ended with 19 points to lead his team--hit five treys. The Pirates led
32-20 at halftime. Rockhurst's Joel Sobanski scored 24 points.
Rockhurst capitalized on 18-of-22 free throw chances; Park shot 5-of-9 from the
line. Park travels to Wichita, Kan. to face Newman University on Tuesday,
February 4, at 7:00 p.m.

FEBRUARY 4TH GAME BETWEEN PARK AND BRESCIA MOVED TO
EARLIER TIME
PARKVILLE, MO--The women's basketball contest between Brescia and Park
University on February 4, 2003, has been moved to 5:00 p.m. to accommodate
Brescia's travel schedule. The game was originally scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

RICHMAN AFFIRMS PLAN FOR COMPETITIVE WOMEN'S GOLF
PROGRAM
PARKVILLE, MO--John Richman
joined the Park University coaching staff in early August to inaugurate women’s
golf as Park’s thirteenth intercollegiate athletic program. A member of the PGA
for 12 years, Richman has been an instructor for eleven of those years. During
that time, he has had students who have won events on the Buy.com Tour (now the
Nationwide Tour), and developed players from the PGA Tour and Futures Tour (LPGA).
Currently the Director of Instruction at The National Golf Club of Kansas City,
Richman plans to build a solid, competitive program. The National will serve as
Park's home course (visit

so many positives in place, including an incredible facility, we intend to be
very competitive,” Richman said. “We will set out to compete against
institutions at all levels and out schedule will reflect that." For more

Women's Basketball Results
TEN POINTS SEPARATE PARK, BRIAR CLIFF CHARGERS 
PARKVILLE, MO--In a game with 41 personal fouls, the Briar Cliff University
Chargers (9-13) emerged with a ten-point win against Park University (4-18),
Monday evening, 59-49. Both teams shot below forty-percent from the floor.
Briar Cliff's Sarah Niles led her team with 26 points and 14 rebounds.
Park's Dorothy Haughton was equally impressive, mounting 27 points and 10
boards. Dana Lehrer of Briar Cliff was the only other player to score in
double figures in the game; she ended with 13 points. Park travels to Hannibal-LaGrange College on
Thursday. |

Men's Volleyball Results
PIRATES IMPROVE TO 4-0 START WITH WIN AT ST. AMBROSE
DAVENPORT, IOWA--Park University (4-0) improved its 2003 season start to 4-0
with a 3-0 win against St. Ambrose University Sunday afternoon. All four
matches have been played on the road. Park won by scores of 30-18, 30-22
and 30-20. Seidu Ajanako had 16 kills and four service aces to lead Park.
Marco Aurelio contributed six blocks and 12 digs. Setter Gustavo Rocha
tallied 41 assists. Park continues its season with a match at Graceland
University on February 13.

Men's Volleyball Results
PARK DEFEATS TRINITY INTERNATIONAL IN THREE GAMES
DAVENPORT, IOWA--Park University (3-0) defeated Trinity International (1-4) in
three games in Saturday afternoon's neutral-site match at St. Ambrose University
in Davenport, Iowa. Game scores were 30-14, 30-10 and 30-12.
Wilfredo Ponce recorded 27 assists in the match; Seidu Ajanako led Park
with 15 kills. Sophomore Kelvin Bush had nine digs for the Pirates.
Jeff Petersen. a senior setter from Milwaukee, Wisc., has four service aces.

PIRATES SLIDE TO 4-17 IN HOME LOSS TO GRAND
VIEW
PARKVILLE, MO--Park University (4-17) scored on just 23-of-68 (33.8%)
field goal attempts and 7-of-17 (41.2%) free throw attempts as the Grand
View Vikings (16-7) stole a win in front of Saturday's Breckon Sports
Center crowd, 76-55. Viking players enjoyed 35 free throw chances;
they scored 18 points at the line. Grand View's Angie Weig had 18
points and nine rebounds to lead all players. Park's Tangela
Rogers had ten points. Tenysha Brown had eight points and 10
rebounds. Park returns to action Monday evening in a 5:30 p.m.

PARK SETS SEASON-HIGH MARKS IN 106-63 THRASHING AGAINST
UNION COLLEGE
PARKVILLE, MO--Park University (10-11) established season bests in five
categories as the Pirates defeated the Union
College (Neb.) Warriors, 106-63, Thursday night. Park's season highs
included points scored (106), field goals made (43), field goals attempted (77),
assists (34) and steals (18). Senior guard Kelly Kindall notched a
double-double with 13 points and ten assists. Chip Weber led all players
with 22 points; he also had seven assists. Junior forward Jason Baugh
scored 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds for the Pirates. Carols Mott
led the Warriors with 19 points, including 5-of-11 from three-point range.
Park's next game is at Rockhurst University on Wednesday, January 29.
