Men's Volleyball Results
PARK UNIVERSITY ATTACKERS DELIVER 47 KILLS; PROVE STRONGER THAN GRACELAND IN 3-0 SWEEPSeidu Ajanako
PARKVILLE, MO--Park University (11-1, 4-1) completed their season sweep of the Graceland University Yellowjackets (8-3, 4-2), Tuesday night, with a 3-0 win in front of a packed home crowd.  The Pirates Park UniversityGraceland University (Iowa)hammered 47 kills in the match; game scores were 30-20, 30-18, and 30-26.  Marco Aurelio led Park with 13 kills and six digs.  Freshman Seidu Ajanako recorded 12 kills and two service aces.  Junior setter Gustavo Rocha had 41 assists; Fabricio Teixeira hit .700 for the match with eight kills and three blocks.
     The match marked Park's fourth consecutive victory against the Yellowjackets, dating back to last season.  Earlier this season, Park defeated Graceland, 3-0, in Lamoni, Iowa, on February 13.  The Pirates travel to St. Louis this weekend to face #2 Missouri Baptist College and #3 Lindenwood University in MAMVIC action.

Men's Basketball Results | NAIA Champions of Character InitiativeSenior Kelly Kindall pulls up for a mid-range jump shot against College of the Ozarks (Mo.), Tuesday night.  Kindall led all players with 23 points.
KINDALL SPARKS PIRATES WITH 23 POINTS IN WIN AGAINST COLLEGE OF THE OZARKS
PARKVILLE, MO--Senior guard Kelly Kindall, a native of Fordland, Mo., provided Park University (13-15) with much of what they needed to overcome College of the Ozarks (15-14), 61-58, Tuesday night.  Kindall led all players with 23 points; he dropped in five points on a three-pointer and two free throws in the games' final three minutes.  Anthony Styles scored 15 points for Park; forwards Alex Santos and Shannon Thomas grabbed eight rebounds apiece.  College of the Ozarks shot a red-hot 16-of-17 (.941) at the free throw line.  The Bobcats' leading scorer, Josh Hume, a guard from Seymour, Mo., scored 22 points, including 11 free throws. 
       As a gesture of goodwill for the NAIA's Champions of Character Initiative, players joined the games' 365 fans in donating more than 300 pounds of non-perishable goods for the Harvesters organization, a group whose charitable efforts combat hunger in the Kansas City area.  In their next game, the final contest of the regular season, Park University hosts Oklahoma City University on Saturday, March 8, at 2:00 p.m.   The event is Senior Day for Kindall and Thomas.

NAIA Champions of Character Initiative
EMPTY BARRELS IN PLACE FOR AFTERNOON, GAME TIME DONATIONSJoin the Park University Athletics-Harvesters food drive on February 25!
PARKVILLE, MO--Don't forget to bring one item of non-perishable food to the Breckon Sports Center as a way to gain admission to tonight's men's basketball game between Park University (12-15) and College of the Ozarks (15-13).  Game time is 7:00 p.m.  Canned goods or other non-perishable food items will be accepted at the gate for admission; all goods will be donated to the Kansas City-based Harvesters charity.  Fans may also gain access to tonight's event with a $3.00 regular admission.  All proceeds will be donated to Harvesters.  No free passes will be granted to ensure a hearty collection for Harvesters, a group committed to combating hunger in Kansas City and the surrounding communities. If you are unable to attend the game, but you would like to make a donation, bring your non-perishable food item(s) to the Breckon Sports Center any time today.  Harvesters' barrels are set up in the lobby.

PIRATES FINISH FOURTH IN INDEPENDENT REGION, FACE SPALDING
PARKVILLE, MO--The Park University women's basketball team (9-21) finished the season with a Hunter Rating of 3.03, earning them the fourth seed in the NAIA Division I Independent Regional Tournament in Owensboro, Ky., next week.  On Thursday, March 6, Park will play #5 Spalding at 6:00 p.m.  The winner of that game will play against #1 Brescia University, the tournament's host, at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 7.  #2 Central State (Ohio) and #3 Transylvania (Ky.) tip-off at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The championship with be played at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 8.

PIRATES MOVE TO 10-1 FOLLOWING WIN AGAINST KENDALL COLLEGE
PARKVILLE, MO--Park University (10-1), playing without senior Fabricio Teixeira who injured his knee against William Woods University on Thursday, rolled over the Kendall College Vikings (7-7), 3-0 (30-26, 30-12, 30-28) in front of nearly 160 fans in the Breckon Sports Center Sunday afternoon.  Setter Gustavo Rocha had a double-double with 34 assists and 12 digs.  Marco Aurelio led the Pirates with 11 kills.  He also had eight digs.  Senior Skye Gosewisch had two service aces to go with nine digs and nine kills.  In their next match, Park hosts Graceland University at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26.

PARK SECURES FIRST WINS AT THE EXPENSE OF THE NORTHWESTERN COLLEGE RED RAIDERSJarrod Tyson (1-1) threw a five-hit shutout in Park's 7-0 win against Northwestern College (Iowa).  He recorded 9 k's.
PARKVILLE, MO--Park University (2-4) notched a pair of wins Saturday afternoon against the Northwestern College (Iowa) Red Raiders (0-2) behind solid hitting and a five-hit shutout by senior pitcher Jarrod Tyson (1-1).  In the opener, a 7-0 win for Park, Tyson recorded nine strikeouts.  Centerfielder R.J. Nab led the team with three hits; Stephen Kent, Ben Weber and Dusty Hylton each had two hits in Park's first win of the 2003 season.  Park won the second game, 13-3, in five innings.  Joe Pickett (1-0) earned the win.  Senior Ryan Kiedrowski had three hits and two stolen bases in the game.  Freshmen Aaron Courter (2 hits, 2 RBIs) and Hylton (2-for-2, 3 RBIs) also lifted Park on offense.

PARKVILLE, MO--The MidAmerica Nazarene University Lady Pioneers (1-0) defeated Park University (0-1) in the season opener for both programs.  Park led 3-1 after four innings; MidAmerica Nazarene posted six runs in the final three innings for the 7-3 win.  Senior Lindy Russell earned the win for the Lady Pioneers; Park's Sherry Faulconer was charged with the loss.

Women's Basketball Results
PHILANDER SMITH KEEPS IT CLOSE; PARK PREVAILS
LITTLE ROCK, ARK.--Park University (9-21) held a 34-32 lead at halftime and went on to defeat the Philander Smith College Lady Panthers, 74-67, in Little Rock, Ark., Saturday afternoon.  Dorothy Haughton scored 20 points for Park.  Megan Anderson chipped in 15 points and seven rebounds.  Priscilla Torto had 13 points for Park.  Seniors Jennifer Payne (nine rebounds) and Glenda Grant (11 assists) also played well in Park's final regular season game.  The Pirates will play in the NAIA Independent Region Tournament on March 6 at 6:00 p.m.  The site will be determined during the upcoming week.

PARK SOURS PHILANDER SMITH HOMECOMING, 86-73
PARKVILLE, MO--Chuck Reed and Anthony Styles each scored 15 points as Park University (12-15) defeated Philander Smith College for the second time this season.  The event was Philander Smith's homecoming.  Park held a narrow lead at 36-35 heading into halftime.  Senior guard Kelly Kindall scored 14 points.  Park hosts College of the Ozarks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

FOURTEEN PIRATES FINISH IN THE TOP TEN FOR THEIR EVENTS AT THE CMSU CLASSICCelena Bibbins
WARRENSBURG, MO--Fourteen Park University student-athletes finished in the top ten places for their respective events at the CMSU Classic in Warrensburg, Mo., Saturday.  Crystal Bethel ran 400-meters in 58.06 seconds to finish first in the event and qualify for the NAIA National Championship meet.  She qualified in the 800-meter run last week.  Celena Bibbins took second in the 600-yard run with a time of one minute, 33.88 seconds.  Mitch Black (Triple Jump, 40-6) and Keith Longuski (3000-meter, 9:14.39) led the men with seventh place finishes in their events.

#10 MULES DEFEAT PARK BY NARROW, THEN GENEROUS MARGINPark UniversityCentral Missouri State University
PARKVILLE, MO--The Central Missouri State University Mules (4-1), winner of eleven consecutive MIAA Conference Championships and currently ranked #10 in NCAA Div. II, swept Park University (0-4) in Friday afternoon's doubleheader at Comfort Field.  In the first game of the series, Park yielded to the Mules, 7-6, ending the game with a runner stranded on third.  The Pirates surrendered three unearned runs early in the game; a Hank Edwards homer helped keep Park close.  In the second game, junior left-hander Nick Denning held Park to just four hits as CMSU prevailed, 9-0.  Park hosts Northwestern College (Iowa) (0-0), Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
