MAMVIC Setter & Player of the Week
ROCHA AND TEIXEIRA HONORED IN FINAL WEEK OF CONFERENCE PLAY
PARKVILLE, MO--
Junior setter Gustavo Rocha and senior outside hitter Fabricio Teixeira have been named Setter and Player of the Week, respectively, in the MAMVIC Conference for April 1-7.  Rocha led Park University in assists this season with 912 (12.2 a/g); Teixeira accumulated 460 kills (3.2 k/g).  The Pirates (21-5, 8-4) are currently ranked #2 nationally; they face Graceland University in the first round of the MAMVIC Conference playoffs in St. Charles, Mo., Friday at 2:00 p.m.

PIRATES CAPTURE MCAC WINS AGAINST COLLEGE OF THE OZARKS
PARKVILLE, MO--Park University (18-10, 7-3) picked up two games on the conference-leading College of the Ozarks (Mo.) Bobcats(18-17-1, 8-4) on Tuesday afternoonCollege of the Ozarks (Mo.).
Park University  The first game lasted twelve innings before Park secured the win in the bottom of the inning, 7-6.  Junior catcher Travis Cunningham drove in two runs in the bottom of the twelfth to tie the game. In the next at-bat, freshman Dusty Hylton reached base on an infield hit and a throwing error as senior Joe Barbosa went home from third base.  Cunningham, Hylton, Ryan Kiedrowski, Aaron Courter and Ben Weber each had two hits for Park in the game.  Cunningham (3 RBI) and Kiedrowski (2 RBI) combined for five RBI. In the second game, Barbosa pitched a complete-game shutout; Kiedrowski contributed four hits.  R.J. Nab also went 2-for-4.

MCAC Baseball Pitcher of the WeekBrett Rymer
RYMER GRABS PITCHER OF THE WEEK HONORS IN MCAC
WICHITA, KAN--
Park University senior Brett Rymer has been named MCAC Pitcher of the week for March 31-April 6. Rymer helped the Pirates to a 4-0 week while pitching in three appearances against MCAC opponents where he was 2-0 with one save. For the week, Rymer pitched a total of 10.5 innings with nine strike-outs and no batters walked. He improved to 4-3 overall for the season. Rymer is a right-handed pitcher from Kansas City, KS. Park University is 5-3 in the MCAC and 16-10 overall for the season.

ATEM, BETHEL LEAD TEAMS IN 800-METER AT NORTHWEST MISSOURI INVITATIONAL
MARYVILLE, MO--Park University junior Mabior Atem took home Park's lone first-place finish from the Northwest Missouri State University Invitational on Saturday.  Atem finished the 800-meter run in one minute, 54.59 seconds, to score ten points for his team in the predominantly NCAA Division II field.  For the women, Crystal Bethell placed third in the 800-meter run, placing third for six points.  She completed the run in two minutes, 20.49 seconds.  The men's team scored 33 points for seventh place; the women were tenth with 19 points. PARK MOVES TO 5-3 IN MCAC WITH WINS OVER PANTHERS
PARKVILLE, MO--Park University (16-10, 5-3) will return to Comfort Field for two more games against the York College Panthers (4-19,
Park University2-6), York College (Neb.)Saturday.  On Friday, the Pirates narrowly defeated York, 12-11 and 6-5.  Senior Brett Rymer picked up the win in the first game; he relieved freshman Mike Johnson to secure the save in the second game.  Ryan Kiedrowski, Stephen Kent, Travis Cunningham, Joe Barbosa and Aaron Courter each delivered two hits in the first game. Ben Weber, Ruben Vieyra, Barbosa and Cunningham had two RBI.  In the second game, R.J. Nab and Andy Morgan had two hits apiece; Kent had two RBI.  Saturday's doubleheader starts at 1:00 p.m.

PIRATES POST 29 RUNS IN SWEEP OF CENTRAL CHRISTIAN, IMPROVE TO 7-1 IN MCACSherry Faulconer
PARKVILLE, MO--Park University (12-12, 7-1) defeated the Central Christian College Tigers (0-13, 0-4), 8-0 and 21-0, to improve to 7-1 in the MCAC Conference and 9-1 in NAIA Region
Park UniversityCentral Christian College (Kan.) IV.  Park is halfway through their 2003 conference schedule; Peru State, Haskell Indian Nations, St. Mary (Neb.) and Bellevue close out the second half of the MCAC schedule for Park.  In the second game, a record-setting 21-run effort, junior Sherry Faulconer had a two-run homerun.  Freshman Brooke Woolery had three doubles to go with one RBI and two runs scored.  Park travels to St. Joseph, Mo., for a doubleheader against Missouri Western on Tuesday.  This season, the Pirates are 0-6 against NCAA Division II opponents from the MIAA conference.

Men's Volleyball Results
PIRATES CLOSE OUT NEWMAN, MAMVIC SCHEDULE WITH 3-1 WINPark UniversityNewman University (Kan.)
WICHITA, KAN--Park University closed out the regular season schedule Thursday evening with a 3-1 win against the Newman University Jets.  The Pirates (21-5, 8-4) defeated Newman, 3-1 (30-20, 30-28, 21-30, 30-21), to bring their overall record to 21-5, 8-4 in the MAMVIC Conference.  Seidu Ajanako had 18 kills to lead Park; Fabricio Teixeira had 13 kills.  Senior outside hitter Skye Gosewish and junior setter Gustavo Rocha each posted double-doubles in the match.  Gosewisch had 14 kills, 11 digs and four service aces; Rocha put up 47 assists and 12 digs.  Park travels to Peru State College for an exhibition match on Monday; the MAMVIC Conference tournament begins next weekend.

OFFENSIVE FLURRY ENABLES NORTHWEST MISSOURI PAST PARK
PARKVILLE, MO--The Northwest Missouri State University Bearcats (15-10) poured on the offense Thursday afternoon in a doubleheader sweep of Park University (10-12).  The Bearcats registered 15 hits in a 17-3 win; they added seven hits during a 6-1 win in the nightcap. Freshman Ashley Rich had a single and a double for the Pirates.  Park returns to action at 2:00 p.m. Friday in an MCAC matchup with Central Christian College.
