Women's Basketball Results
#22 LADY COUGARS TURN AWAY PARK, 79-62
COLUMBIA, MO--Park University (7-2) fell behind early, trailing by as many
as 20 points in the first half and entering halftime down, 36-18.
Park battled back in the second half, outscoring the Lady Cougars, 44-43,
in the period and closing to within six points, but it wasn't enough as
Columbia sealed with win, 79-62.
Randi Meissner led Park with 27 points and 16
rebounds. Randi Johnson contributed 18 points and eight
rebounds. Tilly Payne and Lisa
Kowalewski each scored 18 points to lead Columbia.
Park hosts Peru State College (Neb.) at 5:30 p.m.
on Friday. |

Men's Basketball Results
MUSTANGS CHASE, PARK HOLDS LEAD IN 85-76 HOME WIN
PARKVILLE, MO--Park University (3-7) grabbed hold of an early lead and
never looked back Monday night, outdistancing the Morningside College
Mustangs (3-4), 85-76, in Parkville. After taking an 11-9
 lead
on a Chip Weber field goal at the 15:48 mark in the first half, the
Pirates stayed ahead, carrying nine point advantage into the locker room
at halftime. Weber led all players with 29 points; he was 5-of-11
from beyond the three-point line. In the second half, Morningside
crept within four points; Park never led by more than 11 points.
The Pirates kept an edge on the glass, outrebounding Morningside, 36-28.
Freshman Ryan Meissner posted 20 points for Park.
Corey Gupton recorded his first career double-double at Park, putting up
15 points and 10 rebounds. Morningside's Brad Schmit led his team
with 19 points. Seth Thomas (17 points) and Eddie Ceaser (13 points)
also scored in double figures for the Mustangs.
Park hosts John Brown University (Ark.) at 7:00 p.m. on
Thursday evening. |

Men's Basketball Results
REBOUNDING EDGE OVER SOUTHWEST BAPTIST YIELDS FAVORABLE
RESULT FOR PARK, 66-61
KANSAS CITY, MO--Park University (2-7) worked for its second win of the 2003
season Saturday afternoon, using a blue-collar work ethic to win the battle of
the boards against the Southwest Baptist Bearcats (2-3) in the Rockhurst
University Tournament. Led by sophomore Thomas Holmes with nine caroms,
Park outrebounded Southwest Baptist 41-28; the Pirates won the contest
66-61. Southwest Baptist, an NCAA Division II program from Bolivar, Mo.,
led by four at intermission.
Senior Bill Winston, a guard from Kansas City, Mo.,
scored a team high 16 points for Park. Corey Gupton chipped in 10
points. For the Bearcats, guard David Coutchie put in 29 points, including
7-of-9 three-point attempts. Park hosts Morningside College (Iowa) on
Monday night at 7:00 p.m. |

Men's Basketball Results
#16 NORTHWEST MO. BEARCATS ROAR PAST PIRATES,
83-60 AT ROCK U. CLASSIC
KANSAS CITY, MO--Kevin Parker and Austin Meyer each scored 21 points to
lead #16 Northwest Missouri State (4-0) past Park University (1-7), 83-60, at the
Rockhurst University Classic Friday afternoon. The Bearcats took the
lead at 5-4 just three minutes into the contest and didn't look back,
growing the margin to 42-21 by halftime.
Chip Weber had 11 points to lead the Pirates who
face Southwest Baptist University on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the Mason-Halpin
Fieldhouse on Rockhurst's campus. Bill Winston added 10 points for
Park. |
