PARK FOLLOWS UP SLOW START WITH RECORD-SETTING 16TH WIN
PARKVILLE, MO--Missouri Valley College (7-16) held within 10 points of Park University (16-3) through halftime; in the second half, Park poured it on, running away with a 70-46 victory and nailing down their sixteenth win of the season--the most ever by Park women's basketball team since the program started NAIA competition in 1979.  The former record for most wins in a season was shared by Bob Peterson's 1984-85 squad and Judy Vaughn's 1988-89 squad, both of which finished with 15-10 records.  Seventh year head coach Joe C. Meriweather and this year's team have six contests remaining to establish the record more definitively.
LaTasha Johnson led the Pirates with 15 points in Saturday's win against the Vikings. Randi Meissner, currently the leading rebounder in the nation, collected 16 boards to go with 13 points. Crystal Tutschulte (12 points), Michelle Dean (10 points) and Tenysha Brown (10 points) also scored in double-figures for Park.  Tiffani Scheiber led Missouri Valley with 9 points.  Park hosts Langston University on Thursday, February 5, at 7:00 p.m.
