Men's Volleyball Results
PIRATES MANEUVER PAST NEWMAN, 3-0 
PARKVILLE, MO--After a narrow 31-29 opening game in favor of the Pirates,
#5 Park University (11-4, 5-3) pounded ball after ball in games two and
three to complete the 3-0 win against the visiting #4 Newman University
Jets (18-7, 5-3) from Wichita, Kan., Tuesday evening. Park won the
second game, 30-27, and the third game, 30-26. The win evens-up Park
and Newman in the MAMVIC standings, tying the season series at 1-1.
The Pirates travel to Peru State College on Saturday for a 2:00 p.m. match
against the Bobcats.

PIRATES TAKE TWO FROM BAKER UNIVERSITY 
PARKVILLE, MO.--Park
University (5-5) posted sixteen runs in two wins against the visiting Baker
University Wildcats (2-8) on Tuesday afternoon. Park won the first game, 5-3;
Bryan Larson (2-0) earned the pitching win in relief. Robby Reed had two
hits and an RBI in the game; Dane Phillippe hit a double and drove in two runs.
Park defeated Baker 11-1 in the second game. Adam Clay (2-1) threw the
complete game for the Pirates. Offensive contributors for Park included
Reed (2H, 2RBI, HR), Fred Kraft (2H, 2RBI), Aaron Courter (2H, 2RBI), R.J. Nab
(2H, 2RBI), and Phillippe (3H). Park hosts MidAmerica Nazarene on Friday at 1:00
p.m.

MCAC Baseball Co-Player of the Week
PHILLIPPE SHARES MCAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONOR
WICHITA, KAN--Park University senior Dane Phillipe, an infielder from Gladstone,
Mo., has been named MCAC Co-Player of the Week for the week ending February 29.
Phillippe helped the Pirates to a 2-2 week with three homeruns, seven RBI, three
doubles and four runs scored. He hit 8-for-14 (.571). Park baseball is 3-5
overall for the season. Phillippe shared the honor with Mark Pisel of
Bellevue University and Chris Gryanviski of Newman University.

SPIRES WHIRL PARK
IN DOUBLEHEADER SWEEP
PARKVILLE, MO.--University
of St. Mary (5-3) spoiled Park University's (3-5) home opener Saturday
afternoon, taking two games from the Pirates, 7-4 and 15-8. Brandon Dye
and Andy Carver took the pitching wins for the Spires. In the opening
game, Park's Luke Johnson was the hitting leader, going 2-for-4 with a pair of
doubles. R.J. Nab (3-3, RBI, 2-2B) and Hank Edwards (2-3) held the hot
bats for Park in the second game. The Pirates return to action at Comfort
Field on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. against Baker University.

MISSOURI BAPTIST SPARTANS FOIL PARK VISIT TO ST.
LOUIS
ST. LOUIS, MO--Park University (10-4, 4-3) dropped Saturday's match against the
Missouri Baptist University Spartans (12-2, 6-0), 3-1 (30-28, 28-30, 30-23,
30-26). It was Park's first match following an eleven-day lay-off.
Senior setter Gustavo Rocha led Park with 42 set-assists. Marco Aurelio (8
digs) and Kelvin Bush (5 digs) rallied Park on defense.

Men's Basketball Results
MOUNTAIN STATE LEANS ON 16-POINT RUN, 58% SHOOTING IN
THE SECOND HALF TO GET BY FIRED-UP PIRATES
PARKVILLE, MO--Park University (10-18) held the top team in the nation in check
for the first twenty minutes, heading into the locker room against #1 Mountain
State University (30-1) with a 44-41 lead at halftime. Just after the
half, the Cougars responded with a 16-point run; from being down 46-43, Bob
Bolen's squad found themselves up 59-46. The thirteen point spread matched
the margin at the end of the game as Mountain State won, 88-75. Park
closed to within six points twice in the second half, but the Cougars stayed
alive on the offensive end by connecting on 58.1-percent (18-of-31) of their
field goal attempts in the final twenty minutes.
Senior Bill Winston led Park with 15 points. Dan
Durrer and Chip Weber each had 12 points for Park. Weber added nine
assists.
For Mountain State University, Zach Moss pounded in 30
points ; Zane Gilliard had 22 points, which included 6-of-13 from beyond the
arc. Point guard Adrian Jackson had 10 assists in the game.
Park travels to Owensboro, Ky., next weekend for their
regular season finale against Brescia University. |

PIRATES
HANDLE PIONEERS, EVEN RECORD AT 3-3
OLATHE, KAN.--Senior
Robby Reed sent one over the fence in the top of the seventh inning Thursday
afternoon to help Park (3-3) to a 5-4 win against the hosting Pioneers of
MidAmerica Nazarene University. Bryan Larson, throwing in relief, took the
pitching win in the first game. Reed finished 2-for-4 with two RBI and a
homerun. Other offensive support came from R.J. Nab (2-4, RBI) and Dane
Phillippe (2-5, HR). In the second game, Park bats heated up; the Pirates scored
16 runs in five innings. Junior pitcher Adam Clay (1-1) earned his first
win of the season. He has carrying a no-hitter into the bottom of the
fifth with one out before MidAmerica Nazarene broke it up. Hitting leaders
in the second game were Phillippe (4-4, 5 RBI, 2 HR, 2B), Luke Johnson (3-4, 2
RBI, 3 R), and senior catcher Hank Edwards (1-4, 3-run HR). Park hosts
University of St. Mary (3-3) at Comfort Field on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
