SIX PIRATES HONORED BY NAIA INDEPENDENT REGION
FOLLOWING TOURNAMENT
BECKLEY, W.V.--Six players on the 2003-2004 Park University men's
basketball team were honored following the Men's Division I NAIA
Independent Region Tournament in Beckley, W.V. Tuesday night.
Junior guard Chuck Reed and freshman guard Ryan Meissner
were honored as All-Independent Region Second Team Selections.
Reed averaged 11.5 ppg and 2.8 rpg this season. Meissner, the only
freshman honored with a team placement, averaged 8.6 ppg this year.
Senior forward Dan Durrer was chosen as All-Independent Region
Honorable Mention. Durrer was joined by junior guard
Damien Stanley, sophomore guard Paris Katsimpas, and senior
forward Alex Santos on the Independent Region All-Academic Team.

BRESCIA TURNS AWAY
PIRATES, 65-62; CAPS PARK'S SEASON
BECKLEY, W.V.--For the second time in eight days and the third time in
the 03-04 season, the Brescia University Bearcats edged Park University
(10-20); on Monday, however, the 65-62 win for Brescia meant the end of
the Pirates' season and their exit from the NAIA Men's Division I
Independent Regional Tournament in Beckley, W.V. Senior Dan Durrer
led Park with 16 points and five rebounds. Damien Stanley added 15
points for the Pirates. Brescia was led by Demontae Foots (16
points), J.T. Riddle (15 points) and Wes Johnson (13
points).

WILDCATS, PIRATES SETTLE
FOR SPLIT; PARK LANDS 32 HITS 
BALDWIN CITY, KAN--Park University connected for 32 hits on Sunday
afternoon--enough to come away with a split against the Baker University
Wildcats. Park (11-7), took a 13-7 decision in the first game,
fueled by Luke Johnson and Hank Edwards homeruns. Ryne Mendez got
the win. The Wildcats topped Park, 12-9, in the second game.
Andy Morgan, Aaron Courter, Ross McCoy, Robby Reed and Dane Phillippe
all had two hits for the Pirates. McCoy also had a homerun and two
RBI.

PIRATES
SLOSH THROUGH WET WEATHER IN TWO WINS OVER OTTAWA
PARKVILLE, MO--Spring showers persisted
much of the day as Park University (10-6) swept Saturday's doubleheader against
Ottawa University (4-12-1) at Comfort Field. In the first game, Park
trailed 1-0 in the bottom of the seventh with one out before Luke Johnson and
Hank Edwards each landed hits. Senior Dane Phillippe punched a walk-off
homerun to win the game for Park, 3-1. Kenny Theerman picked up the
pitching win. In the second contest, Robby Reed (3-3), Phillippe (2-3) and
Andy Morgan (2 RBI) provided offensive support as Adam Clay tossed his fourth
win of the season--a 4-3 decision over the Braves. Phillippe also picked
up a save, protecting Park's lead from the mound in the final inning.

Men's Volleyball Results
PIRATES TEAR THROUGH TWO-RANKED LINDENWOOD, 3-1 
PARKVILLE, MO--The #4 Pirates improved to 13-4 and 7-3 in the MAMVIC
following Friday's 3-1 win against the #2 Lindenwood University Lions (20-4,
9-2). Game scores were 30-25, 28-30, 30-21, and 30-24. It was Park's
first regular season win over the Lions since January 17, 2001, when Park topped
them 3-2. Walker Swan led Park with five blocks on Friday. Jonathan
Nino contributed 19 digs; Simon Golola had 14 kills. In their next action,
Park hosts the Lexington Hotel
Suites Classic on Friday and Saturday, March 19-20.
