Men's Volleyball News
NAIA NATIONAL INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENT FIELD, SCHEDULE SET
WICHITA, KAN--Park University (20-6) will enter the NAIA National
Invitational Tournament as the third seed; Park entered the tournament
as the #1 seed when they captured last year's National Championship.
Park will play in Pool A. The Pirates face #6 Kendall at 3:00 p.m.
on Friday, April 16, followed by a match against #1 California Baptist
at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 16.

Women's Basketball News
RANDI MEISSNER CAPTURES HONORABLE MENTION ALL-AMERICAN AWARD
OLATHE, KAN--Junior forward Randi Meissner was selected as an NAIA
Honorable Mention All-American at the conclusion of the NAIA National
Championship Tournament last week. Meissner was the Pirates'
leading scorer (14.9 ppg) and rebounder (13.5 rpg). Her rebounds
per game average was first in the country this season, and she finished
third in the nation with 14 double-doubles. |

Men's Basketball News
DAMIEN STANLEY HONORED AS NAIA ALL-AMERICA SCHOLAR-ATHLETE
OLATHE, KAN--Junior
forward Damien Stanley was selected as an NAIA All-America
Scholar-Athlete. Stanley averaged 9.7 points per game and 4.8
rebounds per game in 17 contests for the Pirates this season. He
is studying Computer-Based Information Systems.

Women's Golf Results
JOHNSON COMBINES FOR A 162 TO LEAD PARK AT WILLIAM WOODS
FULTON, MO--Freshman Katie Johnson shot an 80 on Monday and an 82 on
Tuesday to finish as the third low medalist in the William Woods
University Tournament early this week. Nine programs competed in the
two-day event.

HAND PIRATES PAIR OF LOSSES IN MCAC PLAY
 
POINT LOOKOUT, MO--Park University (16-17, 5-6) suffered a pair of
losses at College of the Ozarks Tuesday afternoon. Adam Clay (5-3) took
the pitching loss in the first contest, a 5-2 loss; Dane Phillippe struck out
three and surrendered five runs in the second game as Park was defeated, 7-0.
Park returns to action on Tuesday, April 13, against Peru State College.

College on Monday evening. The Griffons defeated Park, 11-0 and
8-0. Park resumes MCAC Conference action at York College on

ATEM, LONGUSKI WIN EVENTS AT WILLIAM JEWELL
LIBERTY,
MO--Sophomore Keith Longuski (1500 M, 4:11.1) and senior Mabior Atem
(800 M, 1:55.0) came home with first place finishes in Saturday's
William Jewell Invitational in Liberty, Mo. Park University track
and field student-athletes finished in the top three positions of ten
events at the meet. For the women's squad, Dione Friends took
second in the 800-meter, finishing in two minutes, 26.3 seconds.

PARK CLIMBS PAST
LINDENWOOD, FALLS IN FINALS TO MISSOURI BAPTIST
ST. LOUIS, MO--Third-seeded Park University (20-6) advanced to the
championship match of the MAMVIC Conference Tournament on Saturday after
defeating Lindenwood University earlier in the afternoon, 3-1 (25-30,
30-25, 30-25, 30-22). Jonathan Nino had 14 digs for the Pirates;
sophomore middle hitter Walker Swan contributed three blocks. In
the championship match, Park was defeated by Missouri Baptist
University, 3-0 (30-23, 30-25, 30-23). Park defeated the Spartans
in Parkville twice in the last two weeks. Nino had 10 digs in the
championship; Swan added five blocks. Senior setter Gustavo Rocha
made 29 set-assists. The Pirates will compete in the National
Invitational Tournament in Wichita, Kan., April 16-17.

GOES 3-1 IN WEEKEND SERIES AT YORK
YORK, NEB--Park
University (16-15, 5-4) rounded out the weekend series in York, Neb., with a
pair of wins on Saturday. The Pirates posted 23 runs in two wins against
York. In the first game, a 9-4 victory for Park, Luke Johnson (3-4, 2RBI,
HR) and R.J. Nab (3-4, 4RBI, HR) each connected for homeruns to lead the
Pirates. Nab went 4-for-4 with three runs and two RBI in Saturday's second
game--a 14-7 decision in favor of the Pirates. Sophomore Aaron Courter was
a combined 5-for-8 on the afternoon with two RBI and three runs.

PIRATES ADVANCE TO MAMVIC
SEMIFINALS WITH WIN OVER GRACELAND
ST. LOUIS, MO--Park University (19-5) moved one step
closer the the MAMVIC title on Friday, defeating Graceland University, 3-0
(30-27, 30-21, 30-24). Sophomore Marco Rabello led Park with 10 blocks;
senior setter Gustavo Rocha contributed 24 set-assists. Park will play
again at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Softball Results
PARK SETS OUT WITH ROCKY START IN
CONFERENCE PLAY, DROPS TWO TO NEWMAN
PARKVILLE, MO.--Newman University (14-7, 2-0)
rallied from a two-run deficit to even the score with Park (7-9, 0-2) in
the first game of Friday's MCAC season-opening doubleheader for the
teams. Park and Newman battled into the ninth inning, tied 3-3,
before the Jets scored the deciding runs to win the game, 5-3.
Sherry Faulconer (4-5) suffered the pitching loss for Park. Newman
won the second contest, 5-0.

WICHITA, KAN--The
Midlands Collegiate Athletic conference has released the 2003-2004
Scholar Athlete list. To be a scholar athlete, an athlete must be at
least a sophomore, have a 3.5 cumulative grade point average or higher,
and have completed at least 2 semesters at their present institution.
