Women's Volleyball Results
LATE POINTS NARROWLY SEPARATE WILLIAM PENN, PARK
PARKVILLE, MO--Park University (0-1) opened Wednesday night's match in
convincing fashion, destroying the William Penn Lady Statesmen (3-2), 30-16 in
the opening game. William Penn responded, however, taking the second and
third games, 30-26 and 30-21. In the fourth game, Park equalized the match
at 2-2. After trailing 13-3 in the final game, Park challenged, pushing to
within 14-10 before William Penn sealed the match on a four-touch call.
Tenysha Brown led Park with 13 kills and 12 blocks.
Jessica Silliman, a junior outside hitter from Bernie, Mo., recorded a
team-leading six digs in the match. Setter Bianca Hendricks had 45 assists
for the Pirates who return to action this weekend at the Peru State College
tournament. Park faces host Peru State, William Penn, and Morningside on
Friday evening.

LAMONI, IOWA--The Graceland University Yellowjackets (1-0-0) defeated #14 Park
University (0-2-0) Monday evening, 2-0. Graceland keeper Brian Denndord
earned the shutout at Park put 11 shots on goal.

Women's Soccer Results
GRACELAND PRODUCES RARE ROMP OVER PARK 
LAMONI, IOWA--Graceland University (1-0-0) scored eight goals in a lopsided 8-2
decision against #7 Park University (1-2-0), Monday evening in Lamoni,
Iowa. Zulema Martinez posted three goals to lead the Yellowjackets.
Park has relinquished 17 goals in three matches this season; in 2002, Park
allowed a total of 21 goals in 23 matches. Monday's match also marked the
high number of goals allowed by a Park University women's soccer team since the
program started in 1989. The previous record of 7 goals allowed was set by
Lindsey Wilson against Park on Saturday. Before that, the record was six,
scored by Southern Nazarene against Park in 1996. Park is 3-1 all-time in women's
soccer versus Graceland. The Pirates host William Jewell
College on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.

PARKVILLE, MO--A pair of second half goal-scoring flurries--one for Park, the
other for Lindsey Wilson--favored the #3 Blue Raiders (2-0-0), as Lindsey Wilson
returned from a 2-0 deficit to defeat the Pirates (0-1-0), 3-2, in Park's season
opener Saturday night at rain-soaked Julian Field. |

#5 BLUE RAIDERS DUMP IN SEVEN GOALS AGAINST PARK
ST. LOUIS, MO--The #5 Lindsey WIlson College Blue Raiders (2-0-0) scored seven
goals and held #7 Park (1-1-0) scoreless in Saturday's neutral site match in St.
Louis, Mo. It was the second match of the season for both teams.
Lindsey WIlson led 4-0 at halftime.

PIRATES STRIKE FIRST AGAINST MO BAPTIST; TAKE 2-1 WIN
VERSUS #17 SPARTANS
ST. LOUIS, MO--Senior forward Pam Bedzrah scored goals in the 19th and 70th
minutes to spark the Pirates to their season opening win, 2-1, against
the
#17 Missouri Baptist University Spartans on Friday evening. Park keeper
Bridget Duhme kept net for the full match, allowing in just one goal--a penalty
kick in the 79th minute--while saving seven shots on goal from the
Spartans. The Pirates return to action on Saturday when they face #5
Lindsey Wilson College (1-0-0) at 6:00 p.m. in St. Louis, Mo.
