BENEDICTINE-PARK SOCCER MATCHES POSTPONED
PARKVILLE, MO--The onset of severe weather in the Kansas City area has prompted the postponement of the men's and women's soccer matches between Park University and Benedictine College this afternoon.  The matches were scheduled for 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. on Julian Field, but strong thundershowers are anticipated to last throughout the evening.  The matches will be made up at a later date, provided schedules of all teams involved can accommodate such arrangements.

PARK ROLLS PAST AVILA IN WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL SWEEP
PARKVILLE, MO--Park University (2-5) won its second match in two days, turning away the Avila University Eagles, 3-0, in the Breckon Sports Center Wednesday evening.  Park won 30-23, 30-14, and 30-20. In their next match, the Pirates host Haskell Indian Nations University next Wednesday, September 17, at 7:00 p.m. in MCAC action.

BEND IT LIKE BELAYNEH; LATE LONG-BALL PUTS PARK AHEAD OF #7 BAKERJunior Enock Odede settles a pass from Chris Lisaka just before scoring Park's first goal of the match in the 20th minute.

PARKVILLE, MO--Park University sophomore Henok Belayneh, a forward from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, netted a floating 30-yard shot in the 95th minute to give the #25 Pirates (2-3-0) the deciding 2-1 advantage over #7 Baker University (1-1-0) from Baldwin City, Kan., Tuesday night.
Park UniversityBaker University (Kan.)Earlier in the match, Park posted the initial goal on a shot by Enock Odede at the 20th minute, assisted by Chris Lisaka.  Baker equalized the match just past halftime on a goal by junior forward Luke Parrott from Olathe, Kan.  Park keeper Ricardo Avalos tucked away nine saves in the match.

PIRATES GRAB FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON AT COLLEGE OF THE OZARKSCollege of the Ozarks (Mo.)Park University
POINT LOOKOUT, MO--Park University (1-5, 1-0) rallied through two convincing games and held off College of the Ozarks, 32-30, in the third game to take a 3-0 victory over the Bobcats on their home court.  Park won 30-17 and 30-21 in the first two games; the Pirates start off with a 1-0 MCAC record with the win.  Middle hitter Tenysha Brown led Park with 12 kills and 5 assist-blocks.  The Pirates host Avila University on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m.

HASTINGS CELEBRATES OVERTIME GOAL IN 1-0 DECISION VERSUS PIRATESHastings College (Neb.)

HASTINGS, NEB--Hastings College's Brent Brummer broke the scoreless deadlock by netting the match's only goal at the 91:40 mark of Saturday's Region IV match at Lloyd Williams Field.  Assisted by Nick Vanous, Brummer's thirty-yard shot floated into the upper corner of the net, past Park keeper Ricardo Avalos, giving the #12 Broncos (2-1-0) a 1-0 overtime victory over #14 Park (1-3-0).  Cody Christline earned the shutout for Hastings.

SIOUX CITY, IOWA--Park University (1-2-0) notched its first win of the season Thursday evening at the expense of third-year program Morningside College (0-2-0) in Sioux City, Iowa.  The Mustangs jumped to an early lead on a Tim McCabe goal in the 22nd minute to give Morningside the 2-1 edge.  Park sophomore Henok Belayneh unleashed a string of three goals before halftime to record a first-half hat trick and boost Park to a 4-2 advantage at intermission.  In the second half, the Pirates got additional goals from Almir Lemes Jr., Ross Stride and Henrique Pinto.  Ricardo Avalos and Chris Eslinger shared time keeping goal for Park.
