MCAC Players of the Week; Region IV Player of the Week
AVALOS HONORED WITH DEFENSIVE AWARD THIS WEEK;
TEAMMATE MCLAUGHLIN TAKES HOME CONFERENCE, REGIONAL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
HONORS 
WICHITA, KAN.--Teammates Ricardo Avalos (defensive) and Paul McLaughlin
(offensive) were named Players of the Week in the MCAC Conference for the
week ending October 4. Avalos, a 6-0 junior goalkeeper from Chihuahua, Mexico, recorded a pair of
shutouts this week as his team went 3-0 in the
MCAC. Avalos had 14 saves and allowed just one goal in 270 minutes. Park University is 4-0-0 in the MCAC and 9-3-0 overall for the season. McLaughlin, a
5-11 freshman forward from Ballymoney, N. Ireland, scored six goals this week and added one assist as he led the Pirates to a 3-0 record against three formidable MCAC opponents in Bellevue, Newman and York. He had two goals in each of the matches this week, and accumulated 13 points to lead Park University
to a perfect record in conference play with just one MCAC match remaining. . McLaughlin was also honored as the NAIA Region IV Player of the Week.

MCAC Offensive Player of the Week
BEDZRAH NAMED MCAC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK FOR
SEPT. 28-OCT. 4
WICHITA, KAN.--Park University's Pam Bedzrah, a 5-4 senior forward for the
women's soccer team, has been named MCAC Offensive Player of the Week for Sept.
28-Oct. 4. A native of London, England, Bedzrah put up back-to-back hat-tricks
against Newman University and York College to lead Park to 4-0-0 in the MCAC
conference. She also had an assist against York, bringing her point total
for the week to 13. Park University is 4-0-0 in the MCAC and 6-4-0 overall for
the season.

Women's Soccer Results
PARK WINS FIFTH STRAIGHT; BEDZRAH KICKS IN WITH SECOND
HAT-TRICK THIS WEEK
YORK, NEB.--Park University (6-4-0, 4-0-0) riddled York College (0-9-0, 0-4-0)
with a 38-4 shot differential, en route to an 8-0 win over the winless Panthers
on Saturday afternoon. Pirate senior Pam Bedzrah scored three goals to
lead Park; it was her second hat-trick of the week. Kesiann Francis (2),
Julia Eshikumo, Janice Huffman and Marilyn Boucher also scored for Park.
Bridget Duhme earned the shutout with 80 minutes at the keeper position; Nicole
Debrabander closed out the match in net. Park hosts Morningside College on

Men's Soccer Results
PIRATES WAIT UNTIL SECOND HALF TO SCORE AGAINST YORK;
PARK WINS, 7-0
YORK, NEB.--The York College Panthers (4-4-1, 0-3-0) silenced #12 Park
University's scorers through halftime, keeping the match knotted at 0-0 through
halftime. In the
 second
half, Park found the net, connecting on seven goals to claim the eighth
consecutive win and improve to 9-3-0 overall, 4-0-0 in the MCAC. Paul
McLaughlin, Henrique Pinto and Ross Stride each had two goals for the Pirates;
Enock Odede also scored in the match. The shutout went to junior keeper
Ricardo Avalos who made 2 saves. Park hosts Columbia College on Friday,

Cross Country Results
PIRATES FINISH IN MIDDLE OF PACK AT EMPORIA STATE
TWILIGHT INVITATIONAL
EMPORIA, KAN.--Park University's women's cross country team, led by senior
Crystal Bethel, who finished second on the 3,000-meter course in 19 minutes, 5.4
seconds, took fourth out of eight teams at the Emporia State Twilight
Invitational on Friday afternoon. Park scored 112 points in the meet.
On the men's side, the top four runners--Keith Longuski, Jake Kidd, Leon Bowman,
and Bradford Exantus--set new personal records in the 5,000-meter run, as the
team finished sixth out of ten teams. |
