2008-2009 Colleague to Colleague Presentations
- Wednesday, October 1, 11:00-12:00: "Mentoring Student Research"
This session will address best practices for mentoring student research, in particular helping students identify topics and design research questions. The conversation will be facilitated by Dr. Virginia Brackett, assistant professor of English and director of the Honors Program.
A light lunch will be provided for faculty who RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org by noon, Tuesday, September 30th. The conversation will be held in McCoy Meetin' House.
While students often have specific ideas about potential research topics, they are typically less clear about how to devise manageable strategies for exploring their topics. This presentation will discuss guidelines for selecting appropriate empirical methodologies and will highlight unique considerations for supervising student research across a range of methodological approaches.
Lunch will be provided for faculty who RSVP to email@example.com by Friday, October 24th. The conversation will be held in McCoy Meetin' House.
