Instructional Innovation Grant Award

Congratulations to John Noren, this year's recipient of the Instructional Innovation Grant Award!  John's project entitled, "The Application of the Blended Learning Format to an Accelerated, Eight-Week, Face-to-Face Course", was selected by the Faculty Advisory Council for "its timeliness and potential generalizability."  Congratulations John!

A prestigious honor intended to encourage new and innovative instructional approaches, the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning’s Instructional Innovation Grant Award of $250 distinguishes a Park University faculty member who demonstrates commitment to teaching excellence. Reflecting Park University’s vision is to be “a renowned international leader in providing innovative educational opportunities for learners within the global society,” along with the goals of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, the purpose of the Instructional Innovation Grant Award is to recognize faculty who stimulate student learning through the development and implementation of novel teaching strategies.  The grant award program rewards faculty who incorporate new and innovative instructional approaches into their teaching and mentoring of students, and who share these innovative projects for the benefit of all Park University faculty.

Eligibility: All faculty members at Park University are eligible to apply for instructional innovation grant awards. This includes all full-time and adjunct faculty from all Park University Campus Centers.

Application, Selection, and Recognition:  The grant award recipient will be selected via blind peer review by the members of the CETL Faculty Advisory Council, who will evaluate proposals based on upon the degree to which the project reflects an innovative approach to higher education in conjunction with the impact on student learning. Award winners will be recognized on the CETL website, in Imprint Express, and, more formally, at the annual Faculty Recognition Luncheon. Recipients will be responsible for providing a summary of the project and outcomes, along with relevant teaching materials, for dissemination via the CETL website.

Dissemination of Knowledge to University Community: Grant award winners will work with the CETL Research Associate to design a tool for measuring the impact of the teaching innovation on student learning; once this tool has been developed, the grant award monies will be distributed. At the conclusion of the project, grant award winners provide a narrative of the project that highlights instructional recommendations and outcomes, including teaching materials relevant to the Park University faculty community. Final project reports with teaching supplements will be showcased within CETL’s online Gallery of Teaching Excellence.
