AR298 - History of the Designed Environment: Antiquity to Mid-Nineteenth Century

Students will study architecture, interiors, furniture and the decorative arts in the context of the history of Western culture. Students will understand the impact the built environment of the past has on our current environment and design practices. Connections will be made between past and present and between art, literature, film, architecture, and interior design. The study begins with antiquity and progresses through the mid-1800s.
