The Hauptmann School offers the Master of Public Affairs (M.P.A.) degree, a 36-hour graduate degree, is designed to develop leaders for multiple sectors of society. The M.P.A. builds the knowledge base, decision-making capability, critical thinking, and governing expertise of managers and leaders in government, business, and the nonprofit sector.

Consistent with the vision of the Hauptmann School, our graduates are expected to promote rationality, responsibility, and responsiveness in their organizations within a framework of the highest ethical values. "Preparing for Service" is the School's motto.

The cross-sector liberal-arts base of the M.P.A degree provides outstanding preparation for the unscripted and dynamic work environment of the 21st century. Students select one of six concentrations, as well as cross-sector courses of their choice. The six concentrations include: Public Management, Business-Government Relations, Nonprofit and Community Services Management, Management of Information Systems, Disaster and Emergency Management, and Computer and Network Security.

Format of the MPA Degree

The M.P.A. degree can be completed through traditional face-to-face courses at our downtown Kansas City campus, in the virtual classroom online, or by combining courses from the two delivery formats.

The M.P.A. curriculum consists of 15 core hours, 15 concentration hours, and six hours of cross-sector courses of the student's choice. The cross-sector hours may be taken from any area of concentration in the MPA program (aside from the student's selected area of concentration), and from any graduate program of study at Park University.

Accreditation

Park University is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
