Get Educated AwardThe online criminal justice degree has three concentrations in Security, Law Enforcement, and Corrections.

The basic aim of the Criminal Justice Administration Bachelor of Science program is to develop a comprehensive understanding of the total criminal justice system within the larger society by providing a firm base in the theoretical, philosophical, and practical knowledge of criminal justice. The program aspires to provide a broad focus at the early stages of the student's professional development by increasing his/her ability to deal effectively in the criminal justice system mission in society. Well over 35 basic career opportunities in the criminal justice system (law enforcement, corrections, probation, parole, the courts, prosecution, and defense) at the community, municipal, county, state, regional, and federal levels await the Criminal Justice Administration program graduate.

Students will need to complete at least 30 semester hours through Park University, with 15 hours in their major in order to receive a degree from Park University.

Core Curriculum

A total of 120 credit hours are required for degree completion.  Forty-two (42) credits are in the major field distributed as follows:

  • CJ100 Introduction to Criminal Justice Administration 3 cr.
  • CJ105 Criminal Law 3 cr.
  • CJ200 Criminology 3 cr.
  • CJ221 Criminal Procedure 3 cr.
  • CJ300 Agency Administration 3 cr.
  • CJ430 Research in Criminal Justice 3 cr.
  • CJ440 Internship in Criminal Justice 3 cr.  
  • OR...
  • CJ441 Senior Writing Project 3 cr.
  • CJ450 Senior Seminar in Criminal Justice 3 cr.
  • Choose one 200 level Criminal Justice course
  • Choose one 400 level Criminal Justice course
  • Choose two 300 or 400 level Criminal Justice course

          CJ231 Introduction to Law Enforcement 3 cr.

          CJ311 Criminal Investigation 3 cr.

    

     Area B: Corrections

          CJ232 Introduction to Corrections 3 cr.

          CJ322 Probation, Parole and Community Corrections

     Area C: Security

          CJ233 Introduction to Security 3 cr.

          CJ333 Security Administration 3 cr.

TOTAL: 42 Credits

Successfully complete the liberal education requirements as described in the university catalog.
