How to Cite Electronic Sources (MLA 6th Edition)

Generally, this is the information you must cite, the order in the citation, and punctuation:

Last name, First name of author.  “Title of Web Page.”  Date of posting or last update. Name of organization, company, school or group which posted the info.  Date retrieved.  <Full website address>.

Example of typical reference:

Luddy, John. “Congress Should Hold Hearings Before Allowing Woman in Combat.”   27 July 1994.  Heritage Foundation Backgrounder.  19 Apr. 2000.  <http://www.heritage.org/library/categories/natsec/bgu230.html>.

Article in online periodical:

Guckenberger, Katherine.  “A Convent with a View.”  Atlantic Monthly 22 Jan. 1998. 26 June 1999 <http://theAylantic.com/atlantic/unbound/abroad/

            Kg980122.htm>. [note–if you must split an address, do so after a slash (/)]

Article retrieved through search engine or online database like Ebsco Host (no web address shown):
