School of Education Department Admission

PREPARATIONS FOR ADMISSION TO THE SCHOOL OF EDUCATION (SOE):

The student must ensure that the Application for Admission and supporting documents for admission are complete and on file with the Director of Field Experiences. Faculty will review applications on the first Monday of the month, and student will be notified on or around the last Friday of the month. The requirements listed BELOW are the minimum application criteria.  Meeting these requirements states that the applicant is eligible for admission consideration, but does not guarantee admission.  

ADMISSION TO UNDERGRADUATE CERTIFICATION PROGRAMS:

MEET WITH YOUR ADVISOR TO REVIEW:

  •  Pro-forma for your certification (sequence of courses)

  •  Disposition standards

  •  Review criteria for admission to the SOE

CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION TO THE SOE:

  • Completion of EDU 107  MA120, MA135 or Equivalent EN105 EN106 (a grade of C or higher is required in EDU 107) Early Childhood Students: All of above and EDC 220  EDC 222 (a grade of C or higher is required) 

  •  ACT test scores (on file in admissions office, if less than five years since high school graduation)

  •  2.75 GPA (Cumulative – all classes, including transfer courses)

  • Missouri General Education Assessment (MoGEA) Passing score (two years to complete, but must be completed prior to admission)  (Transfer students with a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution are exempt)

  • Missouri Educator Profile  (MEP)

  • No grade lower than “C” in Education Courses

  • Letter of recommendation (from a professor outside of the SOE or other business professional).  Letter writer can submit letter at https://form.jotform.com/61643867898174 or email education@park.edu

  • MSHP & FBI Criminal History Background Check - Return a Waiver and Agreement Statement to Copley 316, email to education@park.edu or fax to 816-741-4371 to receive the paperwork required for completing your fingerprinting

  • Child Abuse or Neglect Screening  Return form SHP-159J Request for Child Abuse or Neglect Screening  to Copley 316, email to education@park.edu or fax to 816-741-4371

  • Two Disposition Forms completed by two faculty members in the SOE (student requests)

  • Student Disposition Self-Evaluation Form completed at http://form.jotform.us/form/50645230759154

  • Application for Admission to the SOE form completed.  The application form is available in the SOE offices (Copley 309 or Copley 316),  the Director of Field Experience (CO227), or from your Faculty Advisor in the School of Education

  • Non-Missouri residents: Email education@park.edu with your name, student ID and home state of record for information on completing your FBI background check and home state background check

  • Initial Foliotek Portfolio with no less than one item uploaded (verified by your faculty advisor)

  • Application for Admission to the SOE form completed. The application form is available in the SOE offices (Copley 309 or Copley 316), or from your Faculty Advisor in the School of Education via email
