BY-LAWS OF THE PARK UNIVERSITY STUDENT ATHLETIC TRAINERS' ASSOCIATION
ARTICLE I NAME The name of the organization will be the Park University Student Athletic Trainers’ Association.
ARTICLE II MEMBERSHIP
The duties of the membership will include: 1. Attend all meetings of the organization, unless absence is excused. 2. To be informed of any affairs of the organization. 3. To do his/her best to learn as much as possible about the profession of athletic training. 4. To promote the profession of athletic training. 5. To promote a healthy lifestyle. 6. To achieve and maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.75 throughout their academic career. 7. To act in a professional manner at all times when representing the Park University Athletic Training Education Program.
ARTICLE III OFFICERS
The governing body will consist of a president, vice-president,secretary, and treasurer. The president must be of junior orsenior status. The vice-president, the secretary and treasurer must be officially accepted in the program.
ARTICLE IV ELECTION OF OFFICERS
Election of officers will occur as follows: 1. Members will nominate the officers. 2. Nominations will be taken from the floor of eligible voting members. 3. Nominations for officers will occur at the April meeting. 4. Following nominations, at the next meeting candidates will be required to present objectives before being officially elected. 5. The nominee that receives a majority of the members’ votes will be declared the winner. 6. The officers will serve two consecutive semesters, beginning in the fall. 7. In the event that an office is vacant, the highest ranking officer will call a special meeting in order to fill the vacancy. ARTICLE V DUTIES OF OFFICERS
A. The president will: 1. Call and preside over all meetings. 2. Call special meetings as needed. 3. Establish committees and appoint members to the committees, subject to the approval of members. 4. Attend Park University Student Athletic Trainers’ Association meetings when necessary. 5. Enforce all rules and regulations of the organization. 6. Count all votes that pertain to the organization other than votes concerning the election of officers. 7. Be a liaison to all committees. 8. Have a vote on elections, but only vote on motions in which there is a tie.
B. The vice-president will: 1. Act as president in the event that the president is unable to serve. 2. Assist the president with executive duties. 3. Be a liaison to all committees. 4. Be able to vote on all motions and elections. 5. Attend Park University Student Athletic Trainers’ Association meetings when necessary.
C. The secretary will: 1. Keep the minutes of all the meetings. 2. Keep role of all the members present at all the meetings. 3. Be in charge of all correspondents. 4. Be a liaison to all committees. 5. Be able to vote on all motions and elections. 6. Attend Park University Student Athletic Trainers’ Association meetings when necessary. D. The treasurer will: 1. Collect all dues, fines, and other funds. 2. Keep records on all financial matters. 3. Make a report on the financial standing at the first meeting of each semester. 4. Monitor grade point average status for all active members with help of the advisor. 5. Be a liaison to all committees. 6. Be able to vote on all motions and elections. 7. Attend Park University Student Athletic Trainers’ Association meetings when necessary.
ARTICLE VI ADVISOR
The advisor must be a full-time faculty or staff member of Park University. The duties of the advisor are to counsel and guide each member of the organization in his/her pursuit of a career in athletic training. The advisor will count votes concerning election of officers.
ARTICLE VII COMMITTEES
The president will call committees as needed to see to the affairs of the organization. The president will appoint members of the committee, subject to approval by members. Committees will report to members at meetings, as needed. The president, vice-president, secretary, and treasurer will serve as liaisons to all committees.
ARTICLE VIII FINANCES
1. Dues will be collected each semester by the treasurer. 2. Amount for dues will be $15.00 each semester. 3. The treasurer will collect dues. 4. All dues must be paid in full within the first meeting in October for the fall semester and the first meeting in February for the spring semester.
ARTICLE IX PROBATIONARY STATUS
Any individual placed on probationary status is: 1. Required to attend meetings. 2. Required to attend specified fundraisers. 3. Not allowed to vote. 4. Not allowed to hold an officer position. 5. Required to bring his/her grades up in the following semester if placed on probationary status for not maintaining the required grade point average. 6. Not allowed to use the organization’s finances. **Noting that all incidents are not covered in the Park University Student Athletic Trainers’ Association Constitution and By Laws and the Park University Student Handbook, the elected officers will deal with these incidents on a case-by-case basis.
ARTICLE X ATTENDANCE
1. Attendance of all members is expected at all meetings, with penalties to be decided on by members. 2. Excused absences will include any Park University activity or class with no documentation of proof needed. 3. Officers will decide on excusable absences other than school-related. Documentation may be required.
ARTICLE XI MEETINGS
1. The organization will meet approximately once every month throughout the academic year (fall/spring). 2. All members are expected to attend the meetings. 3. A majority of the members present at the meetings is required to carry a motion. ARTICLE XII AMENDMENTS TO THE BY LAWS
1. All proposed amendments to the organization’s By Laws will be brought to the attention of the officers, who will review the amendment and call for a vote. 2. Changes to the By Laws or amendments must be approved by a majority vote of active, eligible members. 3. Changes to the By Laws or amendments will be the only exception for an absentee ballot.
ARTICLE XIII POLICIES
All members must achieve and maintain a cumulative 2.75 grade point average throughout their academic career.
ARTICLE IX ATTENDANCE REWARDS
At the end of the semester for each class those who have attended seventy-five percent of the meetings will have a chance to win a reward. Recipients will be chosen through a raffle.
