Admission Requirements


The candidate athletic training student must complete the core requirements prior to being officially accepted into the program. The core requirements are: completion of 60 observational hours, Introduction to Athletic Training I and II, First Aid and Emergency Cardiac Care, Human Anatomy and Physiology, have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher as well as submit all official application materials to the athletic training department by April 1st.  Once all application materials are submitted, candidate athletic training students will have a formal interview with the athletic training faculty.  Performance during the first 60 observational hours will be very important in the candidate selection process.  Depending on the availability of clinical sites, a maximum of 15 qualified applicants could be selected per year.  There are no guarantees for program admission even if all of the necessary requirements are completed.  The following is a detailed list of what is necessary to be considered eligible for admission to Park University's Athletic Training Education Program:

  

  • Admission to Park University
  • Completion of Introduction to Athletic Training I and II
  • Completion of a Human Anatomy and Physiology course
  • Completion of a First Aid and Emergency Cardiac Care course
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or above (including transfer credits)
  • Completed application by April 1st deadline
  • 3 letters of recommendation
  • Immunization records – *Students who are unable to obtain their immunizations records will need to see a physician in order to get proof of immunization status
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed assumption of risk waiver
  • Signed technical standards form
  • Release of information form
  • Physical examination by M.D., D.O., F.N.P or P.A.
  • Formal interview with athletic training faculty
