BI 210 - The Human Body
Course Description:
Structure and function of
the principal systems of the human body. Topics include: muscular, nervous,
skeletal, circulatory, digestive, endocrine, and urinogenital systems.

Learning Outcomes: Students successfully
completing this course will be able to:

Describe the
organization of the body, anatomical positions and its basic chemical and
cellular makeup.

Describe the
basic body tissues and membranes.

Describe the
integumentary structure, function and some of its disorders.

Describe the
functions of the skeletal system, its growth and development, and be able to
name the major bones and joints types.

Describe
some of the types and functions of muscles, its structure and contraction, and
some major muscle groups.

Describe the
nervous systems divisions, structure and function of the major divisions, and
be able to name some of its major parts.

Describe a
hormone, and the structure and function of the major glands of the endocrine
system.

Describe the
structure and function of the heart and vascular system, some of its
disorders, and the circulatory systems features.

Describe the
organization, structure and function, and basic mechanisms of breathing and
gas transport of the respiratory system.

Describe the
structure and function of the digestive system, the basic chemical digestion,
and how nutrition enters the body.

Describe the
structure and function of the male and female reproductive systems, and some
STD's.
