BI 344 - Animal Physiology

Course Description: A study of living processes as they occur in cells, tissues, and systems in vertebrates and invertebrates. Laboratory work is correlated with classroom discussions. Prerequisites: BI 114 and CH 108, or permission of the instructor.

Credit Hours: 3:3:4

Learning Outcomes: Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • To gain an in-depth understanding of the normal physiological processes of the organ systems of animals.
  • To be able to explain these processes in quantitative, chemical, and physical terms.
  • To introduce the student to the techniques and equipment used in physiology.
  • To study the patterns of changes in physiology due to evolution and adaptation.

Course Assessment: Exams, paper, laboratory reports, quizzes, laboratory notebook.
