Mission

The mission of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning is to promote the practice and profession of teaching at Park University.

We seek to support all faculty in sharing best practices, achieving greater innovation in curriculum and method, and pursuing their scholarly research and publishing goals.

Vision

Park University will be a renowned international leader in providing innovative educational opportunities for learners within the global society.

To support this vision of the University, the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning will foster an integrated faculty community characterized by a commitment to continued professional growth.

Goals

Organizationally housed within the Office of Academic Affairs, the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning provides University-wide resources to faculty and creates opportunities for reflection, dialogue and exchange of best practices.  CETL is a faculty resource, driven by faculty-identified professional development needs, interests, and goals. All CETL programming relates to the three goals listed below and is offered as optional professional enhancement for faculty who wish to advance their teaching practice.

  1. Connect faculty with resources to stimulate instructional innovation across the disciplines.
  2. Support faculty in pursuit of scholarly engagement that enhances teaching and learning.
  3. Encourage faculty service that promotes academic quality and facilitates student learning.

Faculty Advisory Council

In order to remain relevant and inclusive, CETL programming is faculty-driven, relying on feedback and involvement from all faculty. To that end, CETL’s Faculty Advisory Council, comprised of faculty from across the disciplines, campuses, and instructional modalities, partners with Academic Affairs to devise CETL programming.

Members of the CETL Faculty Advisory Council:

  • Attend monthly meetings (excluding December and May) of the Council to represent faculty development needs and interests within their respective areas, and to help approve all CETL programming;
  • Promote CETL resources to their faculty constituents;
  • Coordinate one faculty development activity—e.g., workshop, speaker, roundtable discussion per year;
  • Serve as a peer reviewer for the Instructional Innovation Grant Award.
