Listed below are the materials and resources from this year's annual Greater Kansas City Symposium on Teaching and Learning.  Our keynote speaker this year was Dr. David Pace, Professor of History, Indiana University Bloomington and was held on Saturday, April 26, 2008.

The following institutions are members of the Symposium Consortium: Johnson County Community College, Missouri Western State University, Park University, Rockhurst University, University of Kansas, and University of Missouri-Kansas City.  The Consortium will reconvene in Fall 2008.

Workgroup Information and Materials

Course Design Remix--This workgroup will focus on the exchange of ideas and strategies for reinvigorating an existing course.  Participants in this workgroup will also learn how to implement reflective components to enhance student learning and increase your instructional effectiveness.  (Participants in this workgroup should bring with them a syllabus and course work from an existing course)

 

SoTL Intersections--Participants will dialogue about how SoTL paradigms relate to other educational initiatives such as service-learning, eLearning, integrative learning, and learning communities.

The Importance of Reflection in Service-Learning

 

SoTL Project Design--This workgroup is aimed at those interested in devising a SoTL inquiry question and methodological framework.

Strategies for Representing and Valuing Scholarly Teaching-- Participants will discuss ways to represent scholarly teaching within institutional review and promotion processes, portfolios, etc.
