A. CETL is a professional enhancement resource for all Park University full-time, part-time, online, and distance faculty. Our mission is to enhance the practice and profession of teaching and all CETL programming is driven by faculty-identified professional development needs, interests, and goals. In addition to providing opportunities for professional enhancement from experts in the field of teaching and learning, CETL programming is also intended to create an inclusive, cross-disciplinary venue for Park University faculty to exchange their teaching knowledge and expertise. A. Using multiple modalities to reach faculty regardless of location, CETL hosts a variety of workshops, seminars, panels, and guest speakers throughout the academic year as part of the topical Faculty Enhancement Series. CETL also sponsors programs that encourage cross-institutional collaborations and partnerships by hosting regional conferences and participating in national and international networks for institutions of higher education. CETL sponsors specialty programs to help develop faculty member potential through initiatives such as the Presidential Leadership Program for Women Faculty and SoTL Faculty Fellows Program. Programs are also targeted for distance faculty through Development on Demand and Campus Center Workshop Series. In addition to honoring outstanding faculty at the annual Faculty Recognition Luncheon, we also provide a venue for faculty to share scholarly work in the peer-reviewed annual journal, InSight: A Journal of Scholarly Teaching, Please visit our programming page for more information. Q. Where is CETL located and how can I contact CETL? A. CETL offices are located on the Parkville Campus in Parkville, MO in the Academic Underground. CETL enjoys the high-faculty traffic area adjacent to the University Library and across from the Academic Support Center. Q. What resources does CETL have available? A. Whether a faculty member is novice or experienced, CETL has a wealth of information to offer for enhanced teaching and learning. Online resources are available (such as Quick Tips, New Faculty Resources, Development on Demand, and the upcoming Curriculum Showcase). CETL is also developing a faculty teaching and learning resource library that will include the leading texts on the topic of teaching and learning and will also include copies of the InSight:A Jounral of Scholarly Teaching. In conjunction with the College for Distance Learning’s Professional Development Institute, the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning visited several Campus Centers A. Faculty are indeed the lifeblood of CETL and are critical to the success, effectiveness, and progression of faculty programming at Park University. As such, there are numerous ways to become involved in CETL opportunities that extend beyond participation in CETL programming. For those interested in a more committed role, CETL offers the Faculty Advisory Council, the opportunity to host a Course Design Remix, serve as a Faculty Panel Expert, share your outstanding work in the Curriculum Showcase and more.
