Unlike a traditional conference, the Symposium consists of facilitated work-groups and peer review of work-in-progress through an interactive poster session. Participants contribute to dialogue and collaboration on self-selected topics including implementing classroom-based research and reflective practices; how SoTL intersects with other teaching and learning movements within the academy; and issues related to the evaluation of teaching. The location of the Symposium's location rotates every two years among steering committee institutions: Avila University, Baker University, Johnson County Community College, Metropolitan Community Colleges, Missouri Western State University, Park University, Rockhurst University, University of Kansas, University of Missouri-Kansas City, and William Jewell College. For information, or if you would like to become a member of the steering committee, please contact cetl@park.edu. This 2009 Symposium was held on April 25, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. and was hosted by the University of Missouri-Kansas City, located in downtown Kansas City, Missouri. To view poster abstracts and pictures from the event please visit FaCET on the UMKC website. The 2010 Greater Kansas City Symposium on Teaching and Learning will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2010 hosted by the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Please direct any questions about the 2009 and 2010 Symposium to Dr. Bibie Chronwall at chronwallb@umkc.edu.
