Topics include the design, deployment, and management of the defenses of your computer, network, and data environment. Perimeter defense element such as firewalls, Virtual Private Networks (VPN), routers, switches, and Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) are also covered. Students work in groups to design and end-to-end solution that is applicable and conducive to a "real world" environment. Prerequisite: IS 620 and CSS 636 or comparable courses or relevant work experience.

Topics covered include the design, deployment, and management of the defenses of your computer, network, and data environment. Perimeter defense elements such as firewalls, Virtual Private Networks (VPN), routers, switches, and Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) are covered in this course including the design and integration of these elements into an end-to-end security solution that meets "real world" business issues and requirements. To reinforce these topics, design projects will be administered as group activities where each group is required to provide an end-to-end solution that is applicable and conducive to a "real world" environment.
