EDC415 - Internship in ECE & Leadership

Course Description: EDC415: Intership to Early Childhood Education and Leadership: Candidates, who are in catalogs dating 2009 and later, will enroll in EDC 415 for 12 credit hours. Candidates will plan a 10-week full-time field experience with their education advisor (candidates will spend no less than 400 hours working directly at an intership site). Candidates, who are in catalog 2008 and earlier, will enroll in EDC 415 for 8 credit hours. Candidates will plan a 16-week, (minimum of 15 hours each week), field experience with their education advisor (candidates will spend a minimum of 240 hours working directly at an intership site). Both interships include a seminar designed to examine the role of leadership in early childhood education. (Thirty contact hours of seminar meetings for catalogs 2009 and later and 16 contact hours for catalogs 2008 and earlier). The seminar will provide an opportunity to support the development of cadidates as leaders who empoer, encourage and support others as they strive to meet goals and become agents of change in early childhood programs. Degree portfolio will be completed in this course. Variable credit 8-12 hours. Prerequisisted: EDC354 or EDC354 a&b, EDC355 or EDC355 a&b, EDC362 or EDC362 a&b,EDC363 or EDC363 a&b, EDC372, EDC373, EDC344, EDC345, EDC346, admission to the School for Education and criteria met for requesting intership
