EDC420 - Internship in Early Chldhd Tchng Course Description: EDC420 Intership in Early Childhood Teaching Young Children: Intership in Teaching Young Children is a ten-week experience working full-time taching intership in one or two different early childhood settings (Infant or Toddler and Pre-primary). Candidates will spend no less than 400 contact hours at the intership site. The intership can occur as a form of mentorship only if 1.) The candidate is already teaching full-time; 2.) The site is pre-approved (accredited) AND 3.) The candidate can provide evidence that a mentor will be provided by the school to meet with the candidate on a daily basis. Interactions with children and families from a variety of backgrounds will be an internal part of the directed teaching experience. Included with the intership experience will be 30 contact hours of seminar. The purpose of the seminar is to allow exploration of issues and experience in a reflective way, to enhance the teaching experience, and to articulate an appropriate philosophy of early childhood education as a basis for making professional decisions. Degree portfolio will be completed in this course.
