Course Description: HIS 333 The Modern Middle East: This seminar examines the political, economic, social and intellectual history of the modern Islamic world. The courses main themes are Islam and modernization; the Islamic world and World Wars I and II; colonization and decolonization; Islamic "radical" Islam.
