Beginning with the Greeks and then focusing on the radical skepticism of the Hellenistic period, attnetion will be paid to how skepticism has shaped Western philosophical thought through figures such as Sextus Empiricus, Montaigne, Descartes, Hume, and selected contemporary thinkers.
