Course Description: This course will focus on next generation networks, applications, and services including Voice over IP (VoIP), Instant Messaging (IM), streaming media (unicast, broadcast, and multicast), and peer-to-peer. These next generation networks, applications, and services will pave the way for how individuals, businesses, government, and organizations will perform their day-to-day communications, data sharing, work collaboration, operations, and business. As a result, a new set of security considerations have to be understood that are not found with older legacy networks. This course will provide an in depth knowledge of these new and emerging technologies and insight into any security issues and how to address them. To reinforce these topics, design and security analysis projects will be administered as group activities where each group is required to provide an end-to-end solution next generation technology solution that is applicable and conducive to a real world" environment. In addition these groups will analyze these designs and identify security risks and resolutions. (From catalog 2007-2008)
