PirateFolio

PirateFolioPirateFolio offers each Park University student an electronic portfolio to start collecting their body of work while at Park University, present select artifacts from the portfolio to professors for review, apply for internships or careers upon graduation, or for applications to graduate school. PirateFolio has every student’s profile and all classes already set up when a student first accesses their portfolio. The student may then start uploading coursework to the portfolio into a specific class. Papers, presentations, graphic design work, and communication arts or music recital taped events are just a few examples.

At a later time, the student may choose to organize and present selected examples of their coursework to many specific audiences. In the case of sharing with a professor, there is the ability for the professor to comment on the work electronically, allowing the student to refine before final submission. When applying for a job, a link to the intended artifacts selected for review may be included in an e-mail link. Another hidden feature of PirateFolio is that the entire repository is backed up daily, therefore eliminating the possibility of the “lost term paper” due to bad diskettes or a crashed hard drive. So if used for nothing else, PirateFolio can be used as a huge filing cabinet for the students' Park University academic accomplishments.

Park University's electronic portfolio service will be available to students and faculty beginning in the Fall 2007 semester.
