Park University provides access to academic excellence to prepare student learners to think critically and creatively, and to communicate effectively. Park has maintained that commitment for its students throughout its significant history. Now is no different; the continuum of leadership through Park's Board of Trustees, alumni, faculty, and staff, reinforce the value of a liberal arts education and lifelong learning, in an international community, through the Board of Trustees approved plan, Explorations and Transformations 2012: Access to Excellence.
Over the past few months, members of the senior administrative team and I, have had the privilege of visiting with many of you as we travel to Campus Center Commencements, and to meet alumni across the nation while encouraging alumni chapters to keep Park alums "in touch" locally. I remain very impressed with the love and the commitment you have for your Alma Mater. Through your service, leadership, your gifts of financial support, and your talents, you provide a message of support, community, achievement, diversity, and success for current Park student learners.
In April of 2002, we held our first strategic planning meeting to develop Explorations and Transformations 2012: Access to Excellence. Members included trustees, administration, staff, students, alumni, community leaders, and friends. The foundation of our visioning and planning rests in the history of this wonderfully diverse, dynamic, and entrepreneurial educational institution. One hundred and twenty-nine years and 43,500 plus alumni later, this administration proudly continues Park's tradition of educational excellence for all learners.
The actions set forth in Explorations and Transformations 2012: Access to Excellence will require extra measures of energy, commitment, financial support, and courage from each of us. Thank you for your continued friendship and guidance and for taking leadership roles, as we continue to serve our global student population. Please join us at Park University as we move rapidly through this changing world of educational opportunities. You continue to be a vital partner in the success of Park University, and we look forward to opportunities to celebrate Park's past, present, and future with you.
