Student Consumer InformationThe following is consumer information that is available to students by request and where that information can be obtained:
Annual Campus Security ReportPark University is dedicated to providing students, faculty and staff with information they need to help make each Park campus center safe. Park University encourages the accurate and prompt reporting of crimes and emergencies. At the Parkville Daytime Campus Center such incidents should be reported to the Park University Department of Public Safety. All other Park University Campus Centers should officially report such incidents to the local policing authority with a follow-up report to the Campus Center Director who will forward these to the Director of Public Safety for reporting purposes. Park personnel do not have any arrest authority. Any crime or emergency, which occur off-campus, but at an officially recognized activity of a student organization should be reported as if it happened on campus. The possessions, use or sale of alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs on Park University Campus Centers is prohibited. Student orientation videos and periodic bulletin listings and announcements help inform students and employees throughout the year about crime prevention and campus security procedures and practices. The Department of Pubic Safety at the Parkville Daytime Campus Center publishes an annual report on personal safety and crime statistics for all of the Park University Campus Centers. This report may be obtained from the Campus Public Safety Office or by telephone (816) 584-6444. Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention InformationInformation regarding Park University's drug and alcohol policy is available on the Park University website www.park.edu/safety/drugs.asp. Educational Program at Park UniversityInformation regarding the degree programs offered, required coursework, and faculty can be found in the current Park University College Catalog. The catalog is available in the Admissions Office, Student Assistance Center, or the Park University website. Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)Park University informs students of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974. This Act, with which the institution intends to comply fully, was designated to protect the privacy of educational records, to establish the right of students to inspect and review their educational records, and to provide guidelines for the correction of inaccurate or misleading data through informal hearings. Students also have the right to file complaints with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act office (FERPA) concerning alleged failures by the institution to comply with the Act. Generally speaking, information is only available to the student and to those that the student has authorized in writing. More detailed information is available in the Park University catalog. Questions regarding the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act may be referred to the office of the Vice-President of Student Services. Disability GuidelinesPark University is committed to meeting the needs of all students that meet the criteria for special assistance. These guidelines are designed to supply directions to students concerning the information necessary to accomplish this goal. It is Park University's policy to comply fully with federal and state law, including Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, regarding students with disabilities. In the case of any inconsistency between these guidelines and federal and/or state law, the provisions of the law will apply. Financial Aid InformationAs a financial aid recipient, students have certain rights and responsibilities of which they should be aware. Students have the right to know the aid programs available at Park University; application process to be followed to be considered for financial aid; criteria used to select recipients and calculate need; deferment information; Park University refund and repayment policy; and the satisfactory academic progress policy. This information is available in the Park University catalogs and on the Park University website. Questions and/or requests for additional information regarding any of these areas can be addressed to: Student Financial Services Office Students are responsible for completing and submitting all forms in a timely manner and by the published deadlines; notifying the Student Financial Services Office of changes in name, address, marital status, or financial situation; reporting to the Student Financial Services Office any additional scholarships, fellowships or educational benefits not listed on the financial aid award; notifying the Student Financial Services Office of change in enrollment status; maintaining satisfactory academic progress; and reapplying for federal financial aid each academic year. If selected for verification, all verification documents must be received, all discrepancies resolved and corrections made before financial aid will be awarded. Cost of AttendanceA description of the tuition, fees and other direct costs associated with attendance at Park University are listed in the Park University catalogs. A complete budget outlining the cost of attendance used to determine financial aid eligibility may be obtained by contacting the Student Financial Services Office. Equity in Athletics Disclosure ActThe institutional data mandated by the Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act of 1994 is available for review by interested parties. This information may be obtained by contacting: Claude English AccreditationThe list of associations and government agencies which accredit, approve, or license Park University and its programs are available in the Park University Undergraduate Catalog. Accreditation documents are available for review upon request in the Office of the President. Graduation Rate SurveyThe information submitted on the IPEDS Graduation Rate Survey, including the data for students with athletically related student aid, is available for review by interested parties. This information may be obtained by contacting: John Tew, Jr., PhD The information is also available in the Student Financial Services Office Study Abroad ProgramsPark University offers Study Abroad Programs to several foreign countries in the summer. Degree-seeking students enrolled in the study-abroad program which is approved for credit by Park University are considered enrolled for the purpose of applying for assistance for federal financial aid.
