GAIA EARTH OMNEITY CLUB
(G.E.O)
What is GAIA? As a part of Greek mythology- Gaia is basically the personification of the Earth. Gaia was known as the goddess of the Earth and the mother of Cronus and the Titans. Although she is known by many names, her basic principles have been upheld through the ages. The so called Gaia Hypothesis proposing that the biosphere and physical components of Earth are closely related and form an interacting system that maintains itself at a constant state of homeostasis. The idea was origionally proposed in the 1960's by James Lovelock as the "Earth Feedback Hypothesis". It was renamed the Gaia Hypothesis after the mythological deity. The roots of the hypothesis are the view of the Earth as a single organism that in time, will take care of itself if it can. |
