Computer and Network Security Faculty and Staff
Ben Acosta M.S., Computer Science, Purdue University, is completing his Ph.D. in Information Systems from Nova Southeastern University. He has more than 21 years of experience in Information Technology with the Department of Defense and the U.S. Army. Acosta has been involved in Information Operations activities with the U.S. Army Missile and Space Defense Command and is currently an Information Assurance Officer with the Military Intelligence Readiness Command. He has also taught Information Systems and Software Engineering courses for the U.S. Army Computer Science School and for Vincennes University for more than nine years. Irwin (Woody) Acosta has a Ph.D. in Computer Science, an M.S. in Information Systems, and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering Technology with a minor in Computer Science. In addition, Dr. Acosta is a Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) and Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE). Dr. Acosta is working towards his Cisco Certified Internetwork Engineer (CCIE) status. His work experience began in 1994 at AT&T and continued at IBM, Sprint, and inCode Wireless. He is currently a Solutions Architect for Agilent Technologies. Dr. Acosta has developed courses and taught face-to-face and online at DeVry University, University of Phoenix Online and Park University. Bill Gaught holds an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from the University of Central Florida, an M.S. in Computer Science from Troy State University, a B.S. in Computer Science, Louisiana State, and an M.S. in space operations from the Air Force Institute of Technology. He also is a graduate of the National Defense Universitys Command and Control Warfare Course. Dr. Gaught is a retired Air Force officer who prepared war plans and directed information warfare operations for various Air Force organizations during his career. He has taught computer science courses at various universities and has been teaching for Park University since 1999. George E. Goodman earned an M.S. in Management of Information Systems at Webster University and has more than 10 years of experience working in Computer Security and Risk Management for the U.S. Air Force, where he developed and implemented Risk Management assessment for assigned units. Goodman completed Department of Defense (DOD) courses on Risk Management for DOD systems and the Global Knowledge courses for Network Security. He is a Cisco Certified Network Security professional and has taught computer security at the Scott AFBs campus in Illinois since 2005. Currently he is the Information Assurance Officer for a government agency at Scott Air Force Base (Illinois), supporting a network of 450 users. Harry Harrison graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy and earned two M.S. degrees there as well. He taught telecommunications/networking at Capitol College for more than 20 years. He taught short courses to the National Space Administration and the Washington Post and has taught at Park University since 1976. Barbara Kushan earned a Ph.D. in Computer Education at the University of Oregon, an M.S. in Computer Science at the University of Kansas, and a B.A in Mathematics at the University of Saint Mary (Kansas). She is Coordinator of the Management Information Systems (MIS) emphasis and Computer and Network Security (CNS) emphasis at Park University. She developed and directed the Computer Science and Computer Studies programs at the University of Saint Mary (Kansas) and the Web Certificate Program at Donnelly College (Kansas). Kushan has also taught in the Computer Science Telecommunications Program at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and in the Information and Computer Science Program at Park, developing new courses for both face-to-face and online delivery since 2003. Jeffrey Smith holds an M.S. in Computer Technology in Education from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, FL, where he is currently completing his Ph.D. in Information Systems. Since 2004, he has taught Computer Science at Park University and at ECPI College of Technology in Charleston, SC. Smith worked for 23 years as an Information Technology Security Naval Officer in cryptographic and fleet radio spectrum communications. He currently holds two journeyman Department of Labor licenses in Data Processing and Wireless RF communications. Currently he is a Certified Government Information Security Officer for five Departments of Veterans Affairs Medical Centers in South Carolina. --------------------------------- University Resources |
