Park University Program with Honors Project Updates

 

Spring 2012 Schedule:

 

HN303 and HN304 -  April 13,  2:00 – 5:00 PM, the McCoy Meetin’ House

All students arrive 20 minutes before your scheduled presentation time

 

Narrative with title and preferred presentation date due: to silvia.byer@park.edu on or before: noon, April 2.

 

*      This is a mandatory meeting

*      Mentors should accompany students

*      Snacks will be provided for mentors and students

 

Remember to save power point presentations in the old version; the computer in the Meetin’ House does not support the new format.

 

Each year all HN303 and HN304 junior and senior level students and their mentors meet with members of the Honors and Scholarship Committee, which is chaired by the Assistant Director of the Honors Program. The purpose of the meeting is to allow you to discuss the status of your research projects with committee members. The committee members may use the occasion to supply feedback and direction for you, suggesting changes and/or additions to the project. Guests may be invited, and various administrators and faculty stop by to learn more about your projects! Mentors, please discuss your preferred day and time for your student’s 15 minute presentation. Please send that information to the Assistant Director as noted above.

 

If you are enrolled in HN303, you will present a narrative summary that describes the project and progress made since the project’s inception that also includes a list of a minimum of 10 sources (these may be prospective interviews and other primary sources as well as print sources). Please email your narrative to the Assistant Director at silvia.byer@park.edu on or before noon, April 2.. Your narrative should contain a working project title, your name, your status (junior, senior), and your mentor’s name. You may also show a representation of the project. The project representation may be a written excerpt and/or power point, photographs, artwork, etc. also submit a list of references used in their research thus far. They are required to e-mail the project narrative to the committee chairperson at least one week prior to presentation

 

If you are enrolled in HN304 you will present a representation of the project in addition to a narrative summary that describes the project and progress made since the last update. Progress should be evident. You will also include a list of all sources. Your narrative should contain a working project title, your name, your status (junior, senior), and your mentor’s name. Please email your narrative to the Assistant Director at silvia.byer@park.edu on or before noon, April 2. You must also show a representation of the project. The project representation may be a written excerpt from a creative project that you will read aloud and/or power point, photographs, artwork, etc.

 

The Assistant Director should hear from each student on or before the stated deadline. Presentation time slots are assigned on a first-come first-served basis.
