Office of International Affairs and Study Abroad Scholarship Application

FOR PARK UNIVERSITY HONORS STUDENTS

 

This scholarship will be awarded to one Honors Program student per semester and provides $1000 to help pay program fees for a study abroad trip by Park University’s Office of International Affairs and Study Abroad.  Please note that this scholarship may not be applied to the cost of tuition for any Park University courses in which you may be required to register or to costs associated with passport, visa, insurance, ISIC card or spending money.

 

Applicant criteria:

  • Sophomore or higher standing
  • Completion of a minimum of one semester in the Honors Program
  • Intent to remain in the Honors Program – if an awardee withdraws, funds must be refunded to the Honors Program

 

Due dates:

  • Application, recommendations, essay and transcript should be received by the following dates. Applications received after these dates will be considered only if no previous applications have been received.

 

            Fall semester: June 1st

            Spring semester: December 1st

            Summer term: March 1st

 

 

Priority consideration is given to students who have never received this scholarship.

The application requires a four page essay, application form, a copy of your Park transcript, and two letters of recommendation from teachers. Letters may be e-mailed to virginia.brackett@park.edu.

 

The four page essay (include your name, home and cell phone numbers and e-mail address) will enable those making scholarship decisions to learn about you. Please address the following:

 

  • Why would like to study abroad?
  • How will study abroad assist your personal growth and education?
  • What are four measurable objectives you have set for yourself?
  • What is your view on the importance of global education?
  • How can you promote internationalization at Park?
  • What additional information will help reviewers make a well-informed decision?

 

Within your essay, please include a brief biography, including any Park campus or community services you have participated in.

 

DEADLINE INFORMATION

Your completed application, letters of recommendations, transcript (unofficial will be accepted) and essay must be submitted to virginia.brackett@park.edu by the above applicable date. The Director of the Honors Program does not participate in the selection of the scholarship recipient, but will forward all application materials to the appropriate committee.
