International InformationGreater Kansas City Area International ActivitiesThe Greater Kansas City metropolitan area features a wealth of individuals and organizations dedicated to promoting international activities and understanding. International Relations Council The International Relations Council (IRC) is headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri, and serves the Greater Kansas City area. IRC is the region's leading organization for world affairs programming for all ages. Since its founding, IRC has hosted many world leaders, including cabinet level officials, ambassadors and leaders from business, media, politics, government and education. Its members, both individuals and organizations, participate in numerous events throughout the year. IRC also provides significant resources for teachers and schools. On July 6, 2006, Park University became the first higher education institution to join the IRC as part of a new educational membership initiative. As a result, an unlimited number of Park students, faculty and staff will be able to attend regular IRC programs free of charge. Park attendees will receive a discounted rate for events that include a meal. International Trade Council of Greater Kansas City The International Trade Council of Greater Kansas City (ITC) was founded in 1944 under the sponsorship of the late J. C. Nichols as a not-for-profit organization to foster development and expansion of international trade through education and networking. It is the oldest international trade association in the region and it serves members throughout eastern Kansas and western Missouri. ITC membership includes corporate and individual members from manufacturers and service organizations engaged in international activities. Kansas City International Welcome Project Kansas City is the real America. From the rich folkways of the Native American to the soulful improvisation of the jazz musician, Kansas City opens its heart to the international visitor. Here you will find big-city fun and small-town hospitality. People to People International People to People International is a voluntary effort of private citizens promoting international understanding through direct people-to-people contacts. PTPI is a private sector, not-for-profit 501 (c)(3) organization headquartered in Kansas City. The purpose of People to People International is to enhance international understanding and friendship through educational, cultural and humanitarian activities involving the exchange of ideas and experiences directly among peoples of different countries and diverse cultures. United Nations Association of Kansas City The United Nations Association of the United States of America is dedicated to strengthening the United Nations system and the role of the United States in that system, and to promoting multilateral efforts to advance the goals of the United Nations Charter. The local chapter's purpose is: "to study and promote the fundamental basis of peace with justice and the machinery necessary for its development. The aim of the Association is also to carry on educational and informational activities so that the United States may participate to the greatest extent practicable in the United Nations and other official international and regional organizations functioning in various fields of international cooperation."
