Prime Kiangata
Born: Maniema Province
Hometown: Brazzaville

Prime describes his hometown:

I was born in the Maniema Province. This region of the country is where most of people speak Swahili. In 1997 my family relocated in the capital city, when I was about eleven years old. I lived there and learned French there.

My community is surrounded by beautiful mountains and the beach. My community is a place of peace where you are taught values of humanity and taught to respect everybody young and old. In my community people live the city life as it is the busiest and biggest city in Congo. Nevertheless, people still hold the values of living a communal life. People are very friendly and united. I knew almost everyone around the neighborhood.

People are always busy making means to survive. There is always a traffic jam caused by the public transport system, which also is a big cause of the noise you will hear around the city. You will find people who are making a living from catching taxis so they trade their spot with money, that is because the lack of transportation meaning that the transportation is not enough for the people of my city. Again there is a big symmetry located just in my neighborhood which is accessible to everyone who lives in the city and other cities surrounding. Because of that there are lots of people who come to either shop or visit.

I was involved in a youth organization whose aim was to do community service, so I used to help around the community and organize activities with other youth or for the entire community. As music is a big part of my country, everyone enjoys it. The whole community will get together once in a while where we will sing, dance, drink beer just so we all have fun. At time the community will all get together to watch soccer. As any other city people work hard, do shopping, watch movies, play soccer, dance, drink and go to the beach.
